But yeah, the original pilot art style was weird. As is just like the first half of the first season, where the animation just feels off.

This show make so much more sense once you realize that Gem fusion = Gem sex and no Gem has moved beyond late teenage at best in terms of emotional maturity. Shit, Rose literally started a rebellion because she wanted that gud human dick

Episode 24 marks the first real tone shift in the series, and I LOVE the symbology in it. At the end, Connie LITERALLY takes off here rose-tinted glasses. That's always struck me very strongly for some reason

Even the silly Cookie Cat song is foreshadowing about the gem's origins.

There's also things said about the little centipeedles that foreshadow corruption.

I remember the very first time I watched it, I was really curious about the red circle in the back of the fridge. To see it addressed a few episodes later made me happy, and that was the episode that first made me care about the show instead of forcing myself through it since I'd heard the first several weren't good.

Goddamn, sometimes I forget how much of a pure badass Lapis is when she's pissed. Like, I think she's actually the strongest non-Diamond gem in the show so far.

Playing a game on my phone and watching SU this weekend. Pretty much all I've done beside chat on Discord with some friends and grocery shopping. Gotta do some laundry at some point but I want to finish S1.

I ended up taking a break to watch a couple new eps of Miraculous, but I'm back watching now.

The tragic thing about Jasper is that she herself is very atypical. I assume that's why she was able to wipe the floor with Garnet the first time: Jasper fights in a much different way from your typical Quartz soldier, so Garnet wasn't able to predict her attacks initially. She also seems to be something of a rogue or loner, but she is ultimately consumed by rage and bitterness long before she becomes physically corrupted.
Her basically begging Lapis Lazuli to fuse with her again also suggests some degree of self-loathing: that relationship was horrible for both of them, but Jasper is so obsessed with succeeding she views that as preferable to failure. She views even her own corruption as preferable to failure, even though they're the same.

Jasper is definitely one of the more interesting characters in the show, hopefully Steven heals her soon xD

See, the thing is, I doubt that would work. Even if Steven unravels the whole corruption business(my hunch is that he needs a Diamond's help, minimum), Jasper would still be Jasper. She would never accept the truth about Pink Diamond. She'd go right back to trying to crush the Crystal Gems and reclaim Earth for Homeworld.

I dunno, she might accept it eventually. I don't see her ever being super gung-ho, but just like, making peace with it.

She's always been a character in a lot of pain and lashing out, so I'd really like to see some sort of healing process for her, corruption aside.

I just want her to let go of all her anger, it's not helpful.

There's also that Dove ad with her and Amethyst.

In fact, Ronaldo has been right about LITERALLY EVERYTHING so far. I mean it. The only thing that's not been proven true so far is that the world is run by snake people, or sneaople. I fully expect White Diamond to be a snerson

I mean, it's not been that long since we got... Smoky Quartz? Think that's the name of the Ame/Steven fusion

That said, I AM expecting to see Rainbow "Quartz" 2.0 soon. Its funny how much that fusion should have been a clue to what was really going on. It looked almost identical to her true form and nothing at all like the two gems it fused from

Smokey Quartz was one of the first episodes of season 4. It is now halfway through season 5.

Yeah, if you think about all the fusions we've seen so far, it always keeps the color scheme of one gem and adds features from the other, the exception being Malachite who looks somewhat like Jasper but mixes both Jasper and Lapis's colors to become green. Garnet looks like Ruby with a third eye, Opal looks like Pearl, Sugulite looks like Amethyst but with Garnet's bulk, Smoky Quartz looks like Amethyst but with Steven's rotundness, etc. So the fact that Rainbow Quartz was tanned with shocking blonde hair when neither Pearl nor Rose look even close to that was a clue that should have been super obvious

Pink Diamond and Pearl were literally the ones responsible for that Kindergarten, so the things Pearl said were even more true than they first appeared. I think Pearl feels real guilt over that place
