More like no one pays them enough to open an investigation in their free time into the inner workings of a corporation they don't even work for.

I wouldn't be surprised if the postal worker did catch this initially but changed it anyway just to be a jerk.

Because they're US postal workers. If they're anything greater than being incompetent it's being jerks.
Here let me put your mail in someone else's PO Box. Let me smash this this letter in your street mailbox even though there's room to spare. And my personal favorite. The neighbor parked their car near your mailbox so I can't deliver your mail. Getting down and walking 4 feet to deliver it would be too much effort. But what I am going to do is fill out a little card telling you why I can't deliver your mail, get off my ass, walk the 4 feet and deliver that little fuck you note to you.
