Obama / Dems make a big deal out of how they're "helping". Whether or not they actually are. They care about that people think they are; not that they're actually doing so - if they put as much effort into fixing problems, as they did into making people think they were fixing problems, we'd have a LOT less problems. Sure, once in a while they might actually fix something, but it's only because actually fixing it was the easiest way to make people think they were fixing it.

Trump / Repubs just want to actually fix stuff, and really couldn't care less whether people actually realise they're doing so or not. Sure, sometimes they get it wrong. But at least they make a genuine effort - even if they don't then spend the next few years bragging about how they did so.

Knowing that explains just about everything about how both parties, and their supporters, act.

On the contrary, so many Democratic policy goals in recent decades have been achieved through opaque tweaks to the tax code or whatever. People knew Obamacare was happening, but they couldn't tell you what it actually did for them. Whereas GOP goals tend to be more straightforward.

No, they don't. Democrats want to help themself while carrying an appearance of helping the general population. If they truly wanted to help everyone, they've had plenty of opportunity to do so.
