Eight. One movie for each book, except the last book, which has two movies.

Eh, they drop sharply starting with the fourth.

I'd love it if it could be adapted into a series where they actually had time to tell it.

Maybe a good quality cartoon. It's weird there haven't been any cartoons.

Yes, yes, I know. Though honestly that wasn't anywhere close to what bothered me most about that movie.

Depends on how old you are. The movies really are more aimed towards children, so adult might not enjoy it as much.

So the consensus is that after the 3rd or 4th movie in the series, the rest sucks ass? Which movie is the one contains that Asian girl who got rejected or some bullshit? I heard about it years ago but forgot about it

I don't think they'd be that great if you didn't grow up with the books

tbh they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Personally I thought the 6th (Half-Blood Prince) was the weakest of them all. The final 2-parter is quite good.

It starts out very child friendly, but as the films go on and the kids grow up the story gets much darker.

I always avoided Harry Potter when it first came out. Never seemed like something I'd like, seemed like dumb popcorn movies, etc. Then a couple years ago, my wife and I marathoned them one weekend after she mentioned how good they were. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed all of them as a 27 year old who knew nothing about them or the books going into it.

they're not good movies but they're still fun to watch

the first two are the most accurate to the book, but the children suck at acting and are largely carried by the adults
the third film is the best and the children can actually stay in character for longer scenes (seriously, watch the first two and look at how many cuts there are)
the fourth is probably the worst. it's one of the most info-dense books and it cuts out a lot. also all the kids have Beatles haircuts and it has one of the worst depictions of Dumbledore in an infamous scene
five through eight are consistent, all of them have the same director and the main trio are all adults now (actors, not characters). it's much darker in comparison to the rest and it has some odd design choices

all in all they're not terrible, but they're not amazing

I thought the first few had a lot of noteworthy movie shit, from costumes/setting to score (its John Williams), to the adult wizards bringing some acting chops. But I would only suggest them mostly after youve read the books
