For the purposes of this topic, let's assume that the Black Mages that qualify must fit these requirements.

1) The vast majority of their moveset must include offensive magic.
2) They can have weapons of their own, but cannot use them to any significant degree in primary combat.
*For example, Rita Mordio counts, because even though she has melee artes, they're both VERY unwieldy, and not at all useful to her ingame build.
3) They MUST be a main or recurring character in the game/show/movie they're a part of.
4) Let's assume people with generic psychic abilities count.
5) Summoners count ONLY if all of their summons are DPS, none of them can support the party with healing/buffs/whatever
6) The character cannot change job classes.

If you can, try to add a picture of the character.

Eh... yeah, I guess Lulu counts. She absolutely tows the line between being a dedicated black mage and someone who can effectively change her job but... sure!

Also, dont count out Rita. Getting her setup right pretty much lets you solo most endgame bosses in Vesperia. Vivis cool, and endearing, and has one of the best character arcs in Final fantasy games, but Rita has Blah blah blah... Tidal Wave! Blah blah blah... Meteor Storm! *Game crashes*

Lina Inverse probably wins this. She can blow up the universe if she felt like it. Usually just blows up cities and mountains for fun. Knows every black magic spell available, and knows attack spells in other schools to, only knows basic healing.

But why use that when you have Metero Storm or Tidal Wave. Or the literal best DPS spell in the game, Fire Ball, which iirc can shoot 9 fireballs in a row with practically no cast time given your equipment setup. Rita was just fucking ridiculous.

Jafar, if he counts. He's a "Sorcerer" for a short while, at least. He almost doesn't count though since his powers aren't earned, they're artificial.

i'm a DC fanboy and even I think strange is cooler than fate.

as for me I guess since you said summoners count, i'll throw in Rydia from final fantasy 4. I wanna say all her summons are offensive, but even if not she also can use black magic on top of summoning. she has a whip as a weapon but it deals very little damage compared to the physical attackers of the game so not really worth using aside from IIRC at least some of her whips have a small chance of paralyzing the target.

yeah 4 has a actual dedicated black mage but hes not as cool.

It's okay. We already know Black Mage is the best Black Mage, so the contest is over before it even started.

Genius Sage (Symphonia), Arche Klein, Klarth F. Lester (damage based summoner summoner)(Both Phantasia). Deis/Blue, Nina (Breath of Fire II).

They're not obscure, so many wikia articles and pictures etc.

Fire Emblem Mages, to limited or would they also fit the criteria?
