-Cloud save backups via subscription only (PS4 has local backups and Xbox has free cloud storage even without Live)
-NES Virtual Console games included every month (meanwhile PS4 and Xbox give away console exclusives on a regular basis)
-Every classic NES game will support voice chat via the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app

Bet this will come just in time for Smash 5 also

I mean it's also dirt cheap compared to PS plus or Xbox Online. I don't really see the point of downplaying it. Previous Nintendo consoles have had free local backups and online transfers too so

The Switch offers neither for free.

I mean it's also dirt cheap compared to PS plus or Xbox Online.

I bought 6 months of Live last December for $25. Nobody who's been buying these for a while buys these things at full price

Add party chat on the console and a functional friend/messaging system that doesn't require a fucking phone and they'd be sweet.

I don't care about paying an extra $40 for games I rarely play. I'd prefer a flow of retro games for cheaper.

thats the most asinine thing about it imo

That's still more than double compared to Nintendo.

Take advantage of the family plan and it's even cheaper.

Price isn't the issue.

The person you're playing against because you want to?

Like if you want to play some Dr Mario with your best buddy online you think it's weird to want to talk to them?

Cloud saves being behind a paywall isn't a huge deal but they're should be a way to locally store savegames. I'm assuming they don't to avoid homebrew but that's a shit excuse.

The only thing worth complaining about is the voice chat. Cloud saves are behind a paywall on the PS4, Xbox is the only one that did that right. Hell, Xbox is the only one worth paying full price for the sub (lol if you do though). And full price for the Switch one is pretty damn cheap. NES games with online capability and what sounds like game share sounds neat. I'm hoping they'll announce virtual console at E3 too.

I think the only games everyone on the family account will be able to access are the subscription ones. Not sure if you're implying that digital games will carry across several Switch consoles. I really doubt that's the case.

Live/PSP comes with decent free games, bigger online discounts, a party chat system that makes actual sense, and true backwards compatibility on Xbox One.

Oh wait, that last one is free lol

Or (S)NES Classic

Or Wii U

Or Raspberry Pi

You gonna post a "$500 gaming PC vs Xbox One X" video or something

https://www.pcgamer.com/heres-how-microsofts-xbox-one-x-compares-to-a-pc/

With desktop hardware, an RX 580 wouldn't be enough to do 4K gaming.

It would be hard to build a gaming PC this compact at the same price, but as always, a gaming PC will be a more versatile system.

Square up

Properly game on it? What?

We're talking about online features anyway. Doesn't matter what PC you have. Those things are free on Steam. Discounts, BC, whatever.

Bragging about a paid console online service is sad. They all have their own issues in their own unique ways.

It's not bragging as much as it's countering the whole "Consoles except Nintendo can't do it because PC exists" nomenclature that's used as an excuse every time.

A Raspberry Pi is probably a nicer emulator than the SNES Classic. You could probably emulate for free on PC. Not gonna stop loads of people from buying one anyway because it's functional and stable, like most consoles

My PC can't even play Fallout 3 without extended bullshitting

Which is exactly what my first switch did. It got the flashing green light of death in just a few days of owning it which I guess is sort of lucky in that it failed before I got too far in BotW. I just exchanged it for a new one

Ouch. Luckily when I sent in my Switch for repair they system transferred before the feature was available in an update

Local saves are even on the freaking 3DS

I think they realize it would be a hard sell otherwise if they didn't include that in the online cost

Used an excuse for what?

You're bragging about shit you're paying for $50 a year for even though it's free on another platform. That's it.

It doesn't cost Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo money to offer you sale discounts on their digital stores. Stuff like that is added in to give their services perceived value.

The market has accepted this stuff and it will never change. That's the precedent. But I'm not gonna pretend that these services aren't anything more than free money for any of these companies. They're simply not worth bragging about.

If Nintendo is going to do this shit they most certainly shouldn't charge $60 and copy Sony and Microsoft. Their price point is okay. They need to fix their shitty online features and be up to standard. That's fine. I would also prefer if Sony and Microsoft also offer a $20 tier for people who aren't interested in their monthly games. But they won't.

PC's and Steam aren't the same as an emulator on a custom mini PC. Jesus Christ.

And again this has nothing to do with online services.
