It always turns sideways after enough strums. Is it just a matter of my wimpy finger grip? I feel like if I tense my fingers enough to hold the pick it tenses up my whole wrist tho and screws with my strumming. Wat do?

They have thumb picks which are guitar picks with the little plastic holder like a finger pick.

You shouldn't have to grip too hard. Could just be strumming technique or maybe you just need to try a different style of pick

I find my fingers get pretty sweaty so don't use glossy picks since they slip more easily for me. Check out dunlop tortex picks if you think those are the issue, those are my go to

Make a finger gun and balance your pick on your end knuckle.

Curl your finger in and place your thumb on top. This is a basic technique taught to beginners and its a pretty reliable form

You need to practice more. That's all. You'll eventually get to a point where it's an extension of your fingers and you can very the attack with which you hit the strings.

I mostly play without now, but I remember having similar issues.

Think of it the way you hold a pencil. Not the same mechanics, but the same attitude. You hold it as tight as you need and as loose as you need.
