I'm about to start reading Hawkeye issue 1.

I picked Hawkeye purely because I thought he sounded cool. Some people told me it was a 'weird start', but whatever, I just want to read what i'm drawn to, not what's 'most popular'. I've heard enough about other classics to not be too interested.

If you try to force yourself to read every single canon or anything like that, you're gonna get burnt out quickly. Your plan is good, I say start with things that specifically interest you, then maybe read up on the wiki, see if you come across anything else interesting, etc.

Yeah that's what I figured. I've recently become interested. Just the artistic and cultural side of it is drawing me in, but I'm not interested in following elitist standards. If I see something that sounds cool or looks pretty, I'll just go for it and see if I like it.

Are you reading Matt Fraction's 2012 Hawkeye series? That's supposed to be one of the best things that Marvel has ever done. Be warned though that Marvel has been trash for the most part since around 2015.

But yeah, there's some pretty good stuff compiled as trades (single book).

Yep. Just started flipping. Pretty enchanted so far. The pictures. The words. It's nice and relaxing.

Yeah someone recommended me that and I think I'm gonna head on to the library this week and just pick out one with the coolest cover or something. Libraries are pretty awesome.

i've noticed that a lot of people like that sort of thing. I always see those kinds of recommendations.

I guess I'm just more on the straight and narrow.

Read some of the classic Vertigo stuff and from there branch out for the writers you'd like.

Fables is fantastic and very accessible. Sandman is probably the greatest comic ever written but is definitely on the darker and more abstract side.

For current comics, I read a ton of Image. They're kind of alternative, non superhero sort of stuff and are self contained for the most part.
I never got into Marvel cause all the crossovers and events get exhausting to keep track of. There are some gems though like Punisher Max and Ultimate Spider Man.
