Probably because this was his least memorable outing in a Marvel film yet. All his notable scenes were in the trailers.

Like damn, "Get this man a shield" more like let's strap some old shovelheads to his arms so he feels like he's helping.

This part pisses me off. I haven't seen it yet, but the fact that he's missing his shield kills me. That Shield is an extension of him. He needs it.

Those two black shovel things on his hands look stupid. That's not Captain America

He got in a fight wth Iron Man at the end of Civil War when Iron Man found out that Winter Soldier killed his parents back in 1991.

Neither really wins the fight, but Cap walks away, and Iron Man basically says "my dad made you that Shield, you don't deserve it" and so Cap drops the shield and runs away

The X-Men were barely in Civil War in the comics. All it was was "we'll stay out of it so leave us alone too".

They don't. There are like 3 different kinds of Marvel production companies. MCU is the main one, but a different company owned the rights to X Men and Spiderman for years.

The MCU only just recently bought the official rights to Spiderman, that's why he only recently appeared in the universe.

That's not true. Sony still owns them but they allowed the MCU to use him. Why do you think Sony is making a Venom movie?

A big company would have bought them out if they had filed for bankruptcy.

Also, you have no idea how licensing works.

lol dog you can be as snarky as you want but all i'm saying is, they've very obviously shot themselves in the foot by selling the rights to their own characters to the point where they have to buy them back and can't even use them in their own films.

You're trying to tell me there's no legal framework whatsoever where they could have given fox the licence to use the characters and still retain the rights to use them themselves at some point in the future without jumping through hoops?

it was an oversight, simple as

u dont need to whiteknight for marvel zang they dont give a shit

They pretty much did shoot themselves in the foot. They gave away movie rights because (I assume) they had no plans to make movies themselves at the time. And because of that, they neglected to include the necessary legal framework that would allow them to get those rights back.

Agreed. This movie seemed to be more about revealing Thanos's motivations and character than anything else. Everything else seemed to be more like background activity to that.

They were in a financial pickle as well I think. Probably had to sell the rights and eventually themselves to Disney to stay afloat. Perhaps some comic guru can chime in to confirm what happened back then.

Interesting point. One I am willing to stand behind. I can only guess MCU had to give him some background story to justify how the Avengers wins later. Comic fans probably expected the movie outcome so now its the question of how the situation will be resolved in a way that makes sense and doesn't belittle any of the characters or involve too much plot armour.

Marvel was going through bankruptcy when they licensed out the rights. They would get some money back from each movie but obviously not like if they would make their own movies. At the time they could barely stay afloat, and as you said they had no plans (or even the means) to make movies.
