they dropped the ball on this tbh. baldur and atreus should have been the same person, but from different times. and it turns out they are both loki. so it'd be loki tricking Kratos into believing he has a son, when in fact Loki's father is someone else (faye cheated on kratos).

then at the end of the game, the young Loki reveals he isnt Krato's son at all and fuses together with the older Loki (baldur) and they fight. once kratos kills Loki, he becomes depressed and walks away, his fate unknown

it's literally one line of dialogue at the end of the game so if this is the main/only reason you are buying the game you are setting yourself up for disappointment lol

for whatever reason, that warp was closed off, so I tried going by boat, and ended up in some side-quest.

I ended up watching that part on YouTube

Well now, how do you feel about the lingering question of who called the snake while aterus was out of commission and why his personality seemed to change at times or the theory that Faye is using Kratos as a revenge tool since the only reason all this happened is because she made him cut down the trees that were hiding them from Odin's eyes?

The story was never to kill the gods and I'm glad they really go the bullshit cliffhanger route.

The story was to get Fayes ashes to the top of the highest point of the realms and a coming of age tale between father and son.

The game was fantastic and the only people who say the story sucked were and mainly are pissed because they didnt get the blood thirsty and ravenous kratos, which the game goes above and beyond to show that hes a different and changed individual.

I think 99% of the franchise players knew this wasnt a one shot deal and they told a complete story while setting up the events for the sequel/sequel.

the thing with the serpent bothered me, but I didn't really think about the Faye thing too much until you brought it up

I guess that it could answer how Baldur "coincidentally" found her home shortly after she died

How long until he kills God/Allah/Yahweh?

Oh, wait, never, because people actually treat those cultures with respect.

This.

He never once wanted to fight. He only did cause he had to.

He didnt initiate the conflict. The gods brought it to him.

The first thing it says in wiki about him:

Atreus is the son of Kratos and Laufey and the deuteragonist of God of War. To the Giants, he is known as Loki.

yea, I've learned not to use wikis like that until I'm done with a game/show/anime/movie so that I won't be spoiled

Why are they trying to kill him?

basically, they're hunting his wife (who is dead) because she's the last giant, but mistakenly think that it's him

Baldur, the main antagonist, is led to believe that once he kills the last giant/delivers it to Odin, then Odin will cure him of his affliction - his mom, Freya (another significant character in the game) put a spell on him that would keep him immortal, but in doing that, Baldur can feel nothing, and he's pissed about that

Also, I don't get the Giants. Are they simply a race and some are actual giants, or can they change their size and their true size is an actual giant?

Since I have no interest in playing the game

Is he Loki in the sense that Loki switched bodies with Atreus in order to lure the Norse Gods to Kratos and get Kratos to kill him

Or Kratos actually banged Faye and made Atreus Loki and it's a weird twist on Norse mythology Ragnarok?

It was a weak twist.

Basically means we aren't going to see Loki as an antagonist, lost potential.

Then it just ends. I was expecting some major final boss like a frost giant. Another let down.

The entire story is: "Kratos and his son climb a mountain." That's it. There's a couple twists but it's very minor stuff. The antagonists and NPCs aren't developed at all except the dwarves, who are just there for upgrades. If you like the father/son development then you will love the story, but it offers absolutely nothing else.

Previous God of War games were by no means Shakespearean, but they had cohesive plots. Events happened and drove the story onward. You had to rescue oracles, traverse desserts, find Pandora's box (twice), find Pandora herself, rescue Helios, find your brother, and so on. Kratos clawed his way out of Hell about five times in those games. You had to kill Gods, Titans, and even save the world in the process.

Here, you climb a mountain. There's one recurring boss and palette swapped trolls to slow you down. Complete waste.

i feel like a lot of people surprised/accidentally spoiled by this topic think that loki is some malicious servant of odin who just wanted to fuck with kratos. that would've been a way better twist imo. make it so he never had a son and gives him something to HATE the gods and slay the fuck out of them for the next two games. they still could've done the whole father/son growth thing to make the trickery all the more severe when it's revealed at the end.

yeah i know. the game and kratos im talking about doesn't exist. it sucks that they're growing kratos as a character so we can finally "sympathise" with him only for them to probably kill him in the next game or final game in this trilogy. i don't mind what they actually did, I love the new game, i just fucking pray that they don't kill ma dude off permanantly and have his annoying son replace him. its RDR all over again ;_;
