i think in the long run electrics would certainly be cheaper than those like proglides, the handles of those things are worth nothing.

i think a safety razor gives a closer shave but honestly most of the time i use an electric razor because it's a lot faster

I got my electric last Christmas and I never looked back.

yeah electrics are faster and no mess either, but pretty sure most do not use electrics

I hate electric.

The stupid things hurt like hell and leave you with stubble.

I also hate those razors that have the nasty gel crap on them that gets all over you.

There are not a lot of day to day products I'm picky about but hygene products I very much am. Dial soap, Barbasol shaving creme, the absolute most basic razor possible, Speed Stick deodorant.

I used to be a safety razor snob. Bought an expensive electric and it undeniably gives a better shave if used with water, the badger hair brush, and good cream. Basically just replace your safety razor with the electric and keep the routine the same and you'll get the same shave faster and with less effort.

One limitation though is it cannot handle long stubble. It's good if you shave regularly but if I go more than a few days I have to trim it down with a different razor or just use the manual.

Not my stubble. This was my first electric: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002N5MHLK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It didn't handle my thick Persian stubble well so this is my main now: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012VL5TB0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

It still cannot cut long stubble well but if the stubble is short it gives me a closer shave than the first.

I have a razor where you drop a single razor blade into it. Gives a good shave and a 10$ pack of razors will last a year.
