Make sure you go over the whole apartment with someone and point out any scratches on the floor and pull up the blinds and check the windows out.

Also, I got charged for "changing doorknobs" when I never did such a thing. So, make sure those all match.

In my old apartment, the tenant below me was on the first floor. And ...we had a sewage backup (out to the street), and he had lots of expensive camera equipment for his job which were all...ruined. Turns out someone was flushing cleaning wipes down their toilet. They never did find out who.

So lesson of the story: Never rent a first floor apartment. Or get good renters insurance :P

Is it above average? Better layout, footage, materials?
Just curious since I recently bought a house and as much as I liked my apartment, I really would hate to go back.
But a decent apartment for what I pay on my mortgage is interesting

he had to move back in with his parents back in another state. Really screwed up his life at that moment. All because some idiot (likely the building behind us) was flushing something down the toilet which doesn't break up.

Nice, congrats. I just recently signed a new lease last month. My new apartment will be a little bigger, a little cheaper, and only about 3 - 5 minutes away from work.

I always rented a top floor corner. However, I did have a roof leak that caused me to live in a hotel ( at their expense) since my ceiling came down

Yeah, I got a walk through yesterday and it looked pretty clean, but I couldn't really dig deep as it was still being occupied and the current tenant was there.

I won't be on the 1st floor, and I am planning on getting renters insurance. It doesn't seem that expensive either.

It actually has AC which is for some reason rare in the city I work in. It has a gym/pool I can use, and actually is managed rather than me renting from a random dude who has a small house and is putting 2 people in it. >_>

Nice, the apt I left had a community area with a pool, hot tub, pool table (huge plus) ping pong table and sauna. All in a common area of course but it was great. Good way to meet neighbors or new friends.

they have the right to do that, it sucks but i would raise whatever funds you have if have good credit it shouldn't be too hard finding another place.

though my wants for another apartment is price and location (best if close to store or on the bus line).

Sounds good. My commute is going from 45-50 min to 5-10, so I'll enjoy the extra sleep every morning. =P

It was an accident, I just picked random numbers back in 2001 when I was making my AIM name. Stuck with the name ever since. I did make an 'Errorless' alt account as part of a joke when people started saying it stood for that.

I'm not nearly conceited enough to call myself errorless at any point of my life.

Yea, this will be my wife's 6th year at the apartment so she's going to try to negotiate a lower price. We already spend a lot per month as it is but $2,550 is just ridiculous considering we can move to an a same size apartment a block away and pay a little less than we are paying now (trying to avoid the hassle of moving tho)

sometimes we have to move. they end up losing a tenant and profit because they decide to jack up the rent.
have to teach that landlord a lesson by moving even if hurts mentally or physically.
