do you think games like fortnite and PUBG have negatively impacted games like overwatch? i hear sales for destiny 2 tanked and theyve struggled to retain users as well

alright before people completely miss the point of this topic. PUTTING ASIDE the sensational topic title --

im a lurker, and not really a gamer nowadays (tho gamefaqs holds a special place in my heart). im asking bc activision's Q1 earnings report is tomorrow and i already hold a sizable position of the company in my investment portfolio, but want to be sure they dont shit the bed since lately the sentiment has been somewhat muted. would appreciate some guidance here. thanks in advance

i work in public relations. its very easy to obfuscate this stuff. i prefer to just gauge the general sentiment straight from the users

also, revenue from microtransactions + active users over time is roughly a better indicator of the company's health, as videogame sales figure approximations are probably baked into the company's stock price already

No, but they'd be wise to start realigning certain brands, namely Destiny and Call of Duty.

Destiny has one more chance, I think. If they botch the third entry, the fourth may as well romanticize Hitler. Hell, with the increase in alt-right activity, that'd probably help it if Destiny 3 follows the second game's "make everything worse" route... I loved the original game. I have hundreds of hours invested. Apart from having new crucible maps to enjoy, I really did not get much out of Destiny 2.

Call of Duty's biggest problem is a combination of franchise fatigue and the inability of the non-Treyarch teams to get TtK and lag compensation balanced properly. If they just let Treyarch make a new one every 2-3 years, depending, and then had seasonal map packs in between, they'd probably be more respected and have a product like Rainbow Six: Siege that they could be proud of.

Not only is Call of Duty: WW2 and Destiny 2 HUGE mega sellers for 2017 (the # 1 and # 3 best selling games of 2017), but Activision's Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is the best-selling remastered collection in PlayStation 4s history. Google is your friend.

^The new HD Spyro the Dragon collection from Activision comes out later this year and the damn thing is already doing very well in pre-orders. Activision isn't dying, it's dancing with a hot stripper while throwing tons of $100 dollar bills in the air and then using them for toilet paper and it doesn't give a damn because it's constantly getting tons of extra money per hour.

My brother who's a hardcore Destiny 1 player with hundreds of hours logged in, told me to spend my money at Burger King rather than pick up Destiny 2 for $10, that's apparently how bad it is right now.
