I guess one could argue that the cop's "speed gun" was faulty....

no but if it's just a speeding ticket often the cop won't show up to testify so you will win.

Not true.

Cops will have their speeding tickets scheduled for the same day at court so they can be there for them. It's a safer bet that they will be there.

1 speeding ticket so far in my 15 year driving history and that came almost immediately after getting my license. We just paid it and that was that.

Yes. I got a 35 in a 15mph school zone that I fought and ended up with a big fine but no points.

If your driving record is good its worth doing. Just plead not guilty, show up and repeat what the lawyers say that go before you.

I had to contest a speeding ticket because someone else got a speeding ticket & gave the cop my name instead of theirs because their license was suspended (my brother is a lowlife), I got a copy of my time sheet from work notarized to show I was at work (the ticket was issued to a commercial vehicle over an hour away from my job, I have a desk job), and I still had a hard time getting them to drop the ticket. Judge just seemed insanely biased against me, cop was trying to push it a bit but also was like "Honestly, I can't say for certain that you're the same guy I issued the ticket to" , and that was the deciding factor. Such a fucking pain in the ass.

didn't he even look at the picture on the license to see if it was you when he gave it? i don't even know the procedure when you do contest, i've never done it, idk if it's like a court case like you see on tv. you're brother got the ticket in the end?

yeah this is huge, traffic enforcement in school zones i mean. Might be easily no. 1 in number of tickets given out there.

Yeah. I contested even though I had no grounds to do so. They reduced the amount of points by 1 (fine stayed the same). It was in pretrial conference with a district attorney over the phone. There's basically no reason to not contest.

From what I gathered from my brother when he eventually admitted it, he didn't have his liscence with him at all (due to it being suspended and all), and just told the cop "this is my name, this is where I live, etc." And the cop just took his word

took his word? isn't that unusual? were they adamant about at least giving one of you the ticket in the end?
