No, by late winter Im referring to the latter two thirds of winter, January & February. December is the GOAT month, but its followed by the two worst months of the year, which is why I divided the season into two categories.

Prime winter sport season

I don't play winter sports, but even if I did that wouldn't come close to outweighing the negatives, especially here in Minnesota. Right off the bat, the majority of those months are extremely sunny because it's so god damn cold clouds can barely form, and since there's so much snow/ice on the ground for the sun to reflect off of, even just looking out the window feels like you're staring directly into the sun. There's also the fact that when it does snow, it's usually in blizzards (we've gotten lucky the past couple years, but this winter was harsh in terms of snow). There's also the post-holidays depression & crappy early-year holidays.

I have nightmarish allergies right around now every spring. And as bad as that is in our 100 degree summers. I can't breathe in fully in heat like that. It's actually oppressive to me. I feel like I'm struggling for breath as if my lungs are at half capacity. Headaches and bloody nose. It's weather that actually hurts. If I can I just stay in my bedroom with the AC on all day and night as much as I can.

I love curling up inside under a blanket with the heater on during a cold night. And I don't live in an area where it snows, so I don't have to worry about clearing snow or anything like that.

Autumn is comfortable, while Summer is often uncomfortably hot, but I have a pool, so that makes the uncomfortably hot days enjoyable.

Spring.... meh.

Fall is the best middle ground that's nohwere near hot and not too cold. I love snow, so Winter is my second favorite - only part that sucks is slippery ice, hate it. There's also some satisfaction I get from staying in on particularly cold days or blizzards, and just huddle in blankets with some hot chocolate - rare, but enjoyable.

Spring is the alright. Plenty of cloudy and breezy days where I don't have to worry about the sun that often.

Summer can go to hell. Humid days are unbearable and the sun can be unforgiving depending on where you live. It doesn't help that I'm the type to sweat alot even when it's not hot, and getting sweat in eyes is the worst. What usually is one or two showers a day for me turns to fucking four.

At least with Winter you could bundle up well enough and be set. You're fucked if you have no AC during Summer because fans do jack all to help in warm weather.

Every season has its beauty.

For me: Winter, Autumn and Summer are tied, but spring is last because there's just not enough going on for it. The transitional period between Winter and Summer is pretty boring.

Summer is hot, but you can do plenty out-door activities: hiking, swimming, kayaking, camping, visiting faraway tourist locales. People also dress more liberally. Skirts and blouses, sundresses and bikinis. Shorts for men, and a plain t-shirt. Certain fruits become in "season", and ice cold drinks become an obsession. Picnics and barbecues become commonplace.

Winter is cold and thus spending time inside is usually the way to go. Even then, walking outside and soaking in the atmosphere always makes me happy. Because Christmas is a huge part of what makes winter special, I would attribute a good deal of the winter magic because of Christmas. Ideally, staying inside in a blizzard, with some hot chocolate, playing board-games with friends and family is about as great as doing anything else. The lights are especially unique during this time, and many wear snazzy coats and scarves and the like.

Summer it gets really hot were I live at. Then there is a ton of people everywhere since school is out and they are going on trips.
