Depends on contract and if they want a narrative with him.

In terms of in-universe explanation, Loki was off-screen for a little bit, Thanos hasn't shown to be perfect at reading illusions (since Strange dupes him with a fake Time stone) and it seems bizarre for Loki to actively show physicality, even moreso against someone like Thanos.

Unless he specifically wanted to be forgotten, fast.

So no, hes not dead.

I think so. His character arc is pretty perfect. Dunno where else they could really take it while still keeping him as classic Loki.

You can say that about any character can't you? Where exactly are they taking Captain America and his group? Scarlett witch? Widow and Hawkeye? Warhammer?

Technically the previous Loki was all about being a king, now they can just make him an-anti hero, who helps the good from time to time, also serves himself on the side.

He adds to the mix of 100% will always be unquestionably Disney good guys.

I guess.

But I mean Loki started out as a villain who hated his family. He grew to appreciate them but still stayed as a selfish character who cared about himself and his final moment was sacrificing himself in an attempt to save his brother. If he faked his death and went back to how he was in Ragnarok that would be a step back I think. Even Thor joked that his selfish betrayals were predictable.

Eh not really. He was angry at Odin for lying to him about bring adopted and saw Thor's entitlements as something he deserves but would never get because of his birth. His anger towards Thor was misplaced and when he lashed out he later realized that he hurt the only people who ever cared for him.

Honestly if they wanted Loki's death to be impactful, they lost that chance at the second movie. Now even his 'deaths' feel like they are predictable.

Obviously this is bias, being Loki is one of my favourite characters, but I'd rather have him in the cast, then have him taken out.

And this, Loki seemingly never hated his adopted mother and in the first movie, he tells Thor he never wanted to be king, he only wanted to be his equal. Honestly Trailer makes a comment how Odin raises both sons with aspirations of being a king in the first movie, but it turns out all of it was a lie, since Loki never had the option.

Even moreso, since Odin's rise to power was bathed in blood, as Loki mentioned. So Odin's peaceful demeanour is also contradiction towards what he chastises Loki for.

In other words, Odin was a liar the whole time, which in turn turned Loki bitter towards him and his life.
