A lot of conservatives just learned this. It's why it has become such a popular talking point for them these days.

Right he is one hundred percent right about what the parties were back then. But the parties are pretty much the opposite now. While that's no reason to attack him, clearifying the details isn't an attack.

This. He's basically a low info CEman that spouts this without realizing that democrats were in fact conservatives who would be republicans today. Those same conservatives founded the KKK

Sounds like Kanye doesnt know about the evolution of the political landscape from the past 70 years and the Southern Strategy by the Republican Party.

But it was originally a Republican that freed the slaves so why dont black people support Republicans now! Its not fair, what more do they want?!??

I also have a question for the Conservatives who keep saying this and saying "ITS TECHNICALLY TRUE!"...Why do so many of you the support the group of people who fought against Lincoln to prevent him from doing this? "muh history" and such....if you praise and support what Lincoln did why do you cling so strongly to the preservation of the "history" of the people who hated what he did?

Kayne just saying saying dumb bs lately to get in the news to promote his future album for free. Why waste his record labels money on publicity when he can just say something krazy and news stations, news papers, message boards, etc. can do it for you for free? its a terrible point. Lincoln was a Republican. his ideals don't fall in line to anything you or the current republicans believe today. he would not be a Republican today. I won't say he'd be a democrat, but his slave freeing "sjw" nonsense would not be tolerated in today's Republican party.

Example please. I see the right doing this more often. That civil war example is a common conservative excuse to prove that modern democrats are the true racists.

This is bs for a few reasons.

1. If the so called party swap in the 1960s happened, this would imply Democrat pro-big Government President FDR was actually a Republican. This would imply that Republican pro-small Government President Calvin Coolidge was actually a Democrat.

2. The Civi Rights Act of 1964 passed with a Republican majority with most of the opposition from that Congress being Democrats.

3. Very few of the then Congress that voted on the Civil Rights Act of 1964 actually swapped parties. Some notable people that voted against it stayed Democrats their whole lives/political career. For example, J. William Fulbright voted against it and he stayed a Dem for life, and future President Bill Clinton considered him his hero and mentor.

4. While the party switch never actually happen, certain aspects of both major parties obviously died out with a century+ time passing since they were formed.

it wasn't a full on swap but they definitely swapped on this. to continue to push this "Lincoln was a repub!" nonsense is bull shit. Republicans of today would not have supported what Lincoln did back then and you know it. Its also why so many Republicans of today support the people who OPPOSED what Lincoln did back then...drop the bull shit...

I don't doubt that some democrats pull the past card but it seems to be very common on the right. This is actually a common tactic by republicans to make democrats look like the true racists. Plus they love pulling the Nazi card especially with gun control, "If the Nazis didn't take away the Jews guns the holocaust wouldn't have happened."
