A 22 is good for some new shooters, I prefer the Remington 700 in 308 personally though.

Good gun. My dad has the same exact one albeit about 40-50 years old. Still shoots true. Only annoying thing is you have to load through a tube so it feels kinda like a musket

Agreed that the 22 is great for new shooters. The low recoil also reduces the chance of a beginner's flinch. It is also cheap to shoot which is great for the budget orientated.
