1 trillion.

I can literally put away 500 million for retirement and spend like crazy - even though I'm not that type of person.

Honestly, unless you're buying entire countries worth of real estate, I don't think you could spend one trillion in your lifetime.

I'm fine with dying one day. I'd take the money. Although theoretically with immortality you also have the money too. There's no shortage of money you can make if you know you'll never die.

Immortality seems cool for a few hundred years but eventually it would start to suck. A lot. Money seems the better option. Don't know what u could do with a trillion though. Hell, I think I'd have a hard time going through a billion unless I was actively trying to blow it all.

Money.

If you become immortal, you -will- end up in a black hole with no way to move.

Why does all this bad stuff need to happen tho? What if life goes on? Humans dont go extinct. Life on earth doesnt end. Why are these scenarios always so dark? lol
Humans might be assholes but were kinda smart. Well figure out ways to survive.

Our Sun won't last forever. If you are immortal like in the OP you will outlive the sun and be stuck alone on a frozen rock of a planet, until a black hole eats up the earth.

True but who says we cant come up with a way to survive that? Another planet? Some technology? I dont know the specifics of what it would take but us humans have done some pretty amazing shit. Id like to think we would come up with a way to survive somehow.

A lot of people are hopeful that mankind can inhabit another planet if something goes wrong with Earth, but the morbid fact is that it is not possible. The only feasible things we can do are colonize Venus or Mars. Venus's atmosphere would fry and kill us on contact, and Mars is just outside the Sun's 'habitual zone' that is just right to support life. Not only that, but the Red Planet does not have a gravitational pull necessary to hold an atmosphere that can support life.

Even if these scenarios were to play out, the Sun's life cycle will inevitably end and expand - and this is estimated to go past the Asteroid Belt almost to the orbit of Jupiter, which will be sucked into the Sun. The next thought will be escaping the Solar System, but that is not realistic, primarily due to the sheer distance involved. Just to put this into perspective, mankind launched an unmanned space probe called Voyager 1 in 1977. It didn't exit the Solar System until 1990. If you send a manned spacecraft out in search of a planet to inhabit, the inhabitants will be LONG dead before they reached the Oort Cloud, which is at the edge of interstellar space free from any effects of the Sun's gravitational pull. There is no way in hell that whomever is on board will still have food, water and air available to them, not to mention that the craft -will- run out of fuel, which means that their lifeless bodies will drift aimlessly until they crash into something.

Pretty easy if you have a gambling problem or want to pay off the U.S. outstanding auto loan/student loan debt.

Hell, a trillion dollars wouldn't even cover that. They both are over $1 trillion.

Give me Superman's super strength and I'll consider immortality. Don't want to get locked up for science because you know, they want to see how many limbs they can chop off. Fuck that torture shit.

Which would be impossible, because

Is my consciousness and intelligence expanded and honed as much as my physical form?

Because I feel that if my body was remade as the peak human, the single best genetically conceived human being ever to exist or that ever would exist, my mind would do the same.

In that case, with such a mind, I could theorize new avenues for humanity. I feel that I could eventually replicate my immortality for another.

And I feel like THAT would make it worth being alive forever. Two of the greatest minds alive and simply roaming the cosmos forever. Seeing all that no being has ever seen.

I feel like eventually we'd essentially end up as Dr. Manhattan, and then we'd have the choice to die whenever.

Immortality.

The only way it could be better is if I could teleport to heaven, give God a Stone Cold Stunner, and teleport back.

Question.

Can I still be uncomfortable?

When the sun burns out and the atmosphere is destroyed, will I be freezing cold and unable to breathe? Will I be in levels of uncomfort that are unfathomable - but I will not be able to die?

I'd only choose immortality if the universe and Earth were to never give out, if there were some form of an omnipotent being that I could meet or if there was some suicide option just in case.

With the trillion dollars I could fund research for cloning and make clones of myself to harvest for organs so I could never die.

The money. Though a trillion dollars comes with immense responsibility. I would keep a couple billion for myself and my family and figure a way to put the rest to good use.

Immortality would be an unfathomable level of torture. Floating in empty space for an amount of time no man or computer has even conceived hoping to run into another universe, hoping the first object whose gravity pulls you in is a planet with life you can have a meaningful relationship with, even though by the time it happened you'd be nothing but traumatized-nuts beyond traumatized-nuts. No thanks.

Without the outlandish immortality option presented by the TC, you will most certainly die.
