So for bias, my personal favorite LPs in the past 10 years are ones that are above all informative and provide a good in depth look at the game. They are an absolutely treat and are incredibly difficult to find in a sea of LP videos. What LP videos do you find the most informative and gives the greatest insight on the details of said game?

Without further stalling, and to just quickly get to #1 which many will agree is one of the most acclaimed LP's of its time, we will jump into #5:

#5) Geminilaser - Megaman 4

https://youtu.be/ekOhes6-gB4?list=PL5FEE74EEB1544E7A&t=131

A lot of great Let's Play videos are done in post. In this case, he replays the same stage a dozen times, picks the best one, and records of that. It shows how much effort someone puts into a video than just playing can talking.

Nathaniel goes through great detail on the innerworkings of Megaman, how it has evolved to what you can argue its pinnacle with the 4th in the series (don't worry, he goes in depth with Megaman 2 as well), with lots of little tricks you never knew, and even showing the beauty of going against the grain of a regular megaman boss order!

#4) ProtonJon - Superman 64

Okay so this is a bit more known (well, 800k views known). A man who can make a bad game enjoyable has truly done their job. His commentary with LOTS of information on what can be the most boring game ever is pulled off sort of nicely here, and even goes into some detail about the under-rated Superman animated series (i will call it underrated until your average CEman has watched the entire first season).

#3) CruelestChris - Perfect Dark

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTpNR-BVcRo&list=PL48DFC344D7A884A3

The golden age of the Let's Play video I feel is from the somethingawful forums from long long ago. CruelestChris is at the top of the pack with his low-production-value-yet-insane-knowledge on Perfect Dark and Goldeneye.

It is great to see how the modern FPS was formed from this, and EvilTim goes into great detail about this hallmark of Rareware.

#2) Best Friends Play - Silent Hill 2

Now Matt & Pat know their games, but they go above and beyond for this one. This I felt is what Silent Hill 2 deserved that many, many people missed out: an interpretation, which further explains the footprint the game has left in gaming. Such a wealth of info!

#1) ResearchIndicates - Jurassic Park Trespasser

Yep, the big daddy of them all. Almost on its 10 year annivesary, the cult classic, the widely talked about in the indie LP community, the one, and only ResearchIndicates.

Very well edited, insanely detailed, and a voice and tone so soothing it can put you to sleep after remembering all those embarassing moments you had. Yes, including THAT embarassing moment. A staple in any youtuber's playlist collection :)

That was fun, hope you don't mind the rather boring list as its more for informative than entertainment purposes.

Oh no, I really enjoy both types of Let's Play videos. Entertainment and comedy ones are fun but I love the informative ones as well.

The Superman 64 one you posted is one I've been following for a long time. He's still not finished with it yet but he really does put a lot of effort into each part.

^ Shame we don't get many informative LPs.

I'd like to see The Gaming Historian take a crack at an LP one day.
