I want to just adopt a 5 year old and skip the infant and terrible twos. My gf is ok with this but wants her own child later on in life. Idk.

"Better" is so friggin' subjective man, it's not "better" or "worse" unless actually going through the pregnancy process and giving birth poses a legitimate and serious health risk to the woman. Even then you can have surrogate moms and stuff.
