Are they just dudes with a hobby? People who aren't wise with their money? What do you think?

Probably just dudes with a hobby for the most part. I'd think it's a little weird and would generally not get on with someone like that though, even though I can appreciate it's not insidious in its own right.

They have money, I guess. It's not what I would choose to spend it on and a little weird, but as long as it's legal and they're responsible in their ownership of the weapon, it really doesn't have anything to do with me.

If you built a custom AR-15 with expensive parts, it can reach $3000. There are expensive triggers, barrels, free float handguards, and especially optics.

I think they are prob a gear queer and add way more garbage to their rifle than what is necessary. I also imagine they wear cargo pants, polos, oakleys, and baseball caps with flag patches. Also dip grizzly pouches.

This is so true. You see a lot of them on FB gun pages. Usually snobby and like to bash people for their brand choice.

Usually fall into the 1911 or Glock fan boy catagories.

Imagine being a fanboy of a 100 year old pistol that only holds 8 rounds.

Good for them. My $550 m&p sport is all that I need, but if I had spare cash for a Scar or it's ilk I can't say I wouldn't.

I own a Glock 17 and a Beretta M9. I like both. To be honest, I haven't used a 1911, but they're expensive, hold 8 rounds, and outweigh the M9. I don't see a lot to be excited about.

So you'd rather have a SCAR-L than a fully tricked out $3000 AR-15?

Dat Ortho projection, lol.

While not 3k, my Recce-16 got pretty up there. With the Aimpoint T2 Micro alone total cash put down was easily over 2 grand.

But, who knows, if I buy an Elcan or a Scar-H, I might suddenly get the urge to wear oakleys, and buy a Jeep.

It was an obvious generalization but there are a lot of tactic-cool douches out there that spend more on accessories than they do on ammo and training.

There are guys who spend thousands on carbine classes. There are guys who buy a $600 AR-15 and never shoot it once. To each his own.
