I work as an assistant manager/support staff in the service department of a car dealership. I do EVERYTHING administrative to keep everything running smoothly... until now. Recently our area fixed ops director (the boss of all service departments for our dealerships) decided to make some... changes.

Things I can no longer do:
- apply discount/coupon codes to invoices
- change the service advisor on repair orders
- clock technicians onto a ticket manually, meaning I can no longer invoice or close out most tickets
- I now have to clock in and out like an hourly retail employee, including for lunch
- if for any reason I forget to clock in or out during the day, I'm locked out of all necessary applications until the service director fixes my punches

Basically, to do my job, I need to get my boss to sign off on everything I do. I feel like I'm being micromanaged by some chucklefuck who hasn't set foot on the front lines for 20 years

Trust me, we've all voiced our concerns to our service director, who's spearheading the effort to get our access back. He doesn't like the extra workload placed on him whenever we need something simple fixed. Problem is, the fixed ops director doesn't answer to anyone except the upper echelons of the management company. He alone controls service department policy company-wide.

He's also a dick - one time he patted my belly and said, "What's up with this, man?"

I feel ya TC. We recently got a new district manager and he micro manages the piss out of the smallest most ridiculous things and ignores all the large real problems. Our evaluation is he is just trying to prove himself and with time he will fall into line.
