Nobody is playing 3 days and 8 hours straight. At least nobody with responsibilities.

You know charges carry over between sessions, right?

And then there's the 5 hour battery life....

My vote goes to the Wii U Pro Controller here. As mentioned earlier, the battery life is insanely long. It has a good size, is very sleek, and is really comfortable to hold compared to other controllers. As for the button / joystick placement, I'm pretty indifferent between it and the Switch Pro, PS4, etc. but aesthetically I can appreciate how the Wii U Pro has parallel joysticks.

Plenty of people play multiple hour or more sessions over the course of several days. Being able to do that without having to plug in your controller after every session is a great feature of the X1 and Switch controllers.

Yeah or just picking up the controller after it's been sitting for a while, only to find the thing just doesn't hold a charge and it's fucking dead.

I feel like I'm the only one who hates the start/select (sorry, options/share) buttons on the DS4 - they really should protrude like actual buttons, but instead, they are buried into the controller, on those extremely awkward ridges... All so they could fit that oversized, rarely used touchpad thing onto the controller.

So why not charge the controller when not in use?

Connecting a controller to a USB port after every session is a tedious hassle

80 hours of charge means I only have to worry about it when the red LED comes on, and when that does turn on I still have as much charge as a DualShock 4's entire life so it's not like I have to answer it immediately.

Xbox controllers have always made my hands ache. I definitely don't get why your thumbs being arbitrarily offset is considered maximum ergonomics.

Arbitrarily offset?

The position of the left stick is where your thumb naturally falls when holding the controller. And since it's 20 fucking 18 and we play almost all of our games in 3D, the stick should always take precedence over the D-Pad.

It's better than the PS3 but still the worst modern controller outside of maybe the Joycons in that cradle thing.

- Battery life sucks
- Touchpad is useless
- Lightbar is annoying
- Options/Share buttons are in awkward places

The issues on Xbox One/Switch Pro are rather minor in comparison.

Who the hell doesn't plug their rechargables in when they're done with them? Hell, I charge my phone nightly.

Why should I have to charge my controller literally every time I set it down. Thats absolutely nonsense.

Not nearly the same importance as my phone which I have on or near me 24/7.

People try to make some argument against the AA batteries on a Xbone controller yet the benefits are numerous.

First of all Im only a 2 second battery swap away from having a full charge. I like that kind of convenience. Im not sweating over the 100 AAs I can get from Costco for like 20 bucks.

You have far more options available to you as well. You can buy first or third party recharge packs if you like. You can buy rechargeable AAs. Or just keep a drawer full of batteries like I do and just swap em out. Options are a very good thing.

And because of that you get far more life out of every controller. If the damn things cost like $80 bucks I should expect them to last. Those PS4 controller batteries will eventually fail and then youre left with a paperweight.

It also has the massive power eating light bar because reasons

It isn't the light bar draining battery life. It is the touchpad. The light is used for tracking the controller during VR games.

When you're done using it, you plug it in so it's charged next time you want it. Really simple concept mate.

Oh poor you. You have to plug things in when you're done with them. Truly the biggest problem in the modern world. I'll get all the top scientists off of world hunger and get them right on solving the PS4's controller. Just for you.
