Not going to even come close to finishing it before selling it. I'm like 8 hours in or so.

The previews etc made it look like a combo of GoW and Dark souls, but the gameplay isn't like that at all. Really don't find the combat enjoyable, which is the only draw, and the previews said there was tons of customization/advancement options.

While you can upgrade armor etc, and there are a few skills to raise, it's more like a Devil May Cry then anything else. Some people love it, which is great, but it's not my type of game sadly.

Should have just red boxed it, as I'll lose about $10 selling it. Not horrid though and at least this way I don't have to run back and return it etc. Person is coming here to buy it off me since I'm offering it for less ($45).

Just not having luck with games I am buying lately sigh.

You do realize that there are whole websites devoted to demonstrating the gameplay mechanics of video games for free, right? Like, you can go and research basically everything about a game before actually purchasing it. I mean, you need an internet connection and a web browser, but there are ways to identify potential issues you may have with a game before putting down what you seem to feel is a regrettable amount of money. Sadly, this is all just secondhand knowledge to me, I have no idea where you would find a website like that. You could try investigating through some sort of web crawling spider that matches search terms to web page results, but that's just a theory. What do I know? Best of luck to ya!

Yeah, I did watch videos etc, but it's hard to tell from them. IT looked like dark souls in the videos, or similar, but the gameplay was not the same. The videos also went on about how customizable he was etc....but when actually playing, I don't notice much difference.

Sometimes the only way to tell is to play the game.

It's not too much of a loss just to try the game and see if you like it.

In fact I think I get 5% back from purchases as well, so the $52 initial price (from best buy) would drop to only $50...and I'm selling it for $45...so it's really only a $5 loss over all.

It really isn't though the past games are as you know they are hack and slash.
This game is much more slower paced on the gameplay front and certainly isn't like Dark Souls(why would it be?). I find the gameplay gets better the more I play. I'm enjoying it but some folk are indeed hyping it up too much as while it's a good game it's not anything groundbreaking. Still it won't be for everyone.

Really? Each ruin attack, upgrade and skill I get makes a big difference in combat for me. Mind you early into the game it is limited. Sounds like to me you are early in the game.

Dark souls and any GoW game are different btw. GoW combat is more like Devil May Cry while dark souls combat is more slower paced. A similarity is that both games are comparatively hard.

Can't return it if opened even the same day (this was the next day).

I did watch video reviews/previews which is what made me buy it. They literally said it was like dark souls in the one I watched actually, like a morph between it and GoW.

Went through like the first 30 minutes of the game in the video.

I was only like 8 hours in, so it was still pretty basic, maybe it opens up more later, was just rowing my boat around a bunch of areas in a lake, about to destroy a thor statue etc.

I just did'nt like the combat was the real problem, and without good combat or things I look forward to advancing as I level up etc, I don't enjoy a game much.

Can't usually tell that from a review.

All I know is that I liked the older ones and I'm beyond sick of Sony's formula this gen. That's why I avoided it.
