It seems kind of obvious I was referring to cases like the one you posted in this topic. That's why I'm talking about a specific victim.

I'm not sure how the occupation of the victim should matter to the police...care to elaborate on why you think a journalist deserves less protection than a police officer?

Chief of the Police and the President have way more authority than you and me or a journalist or a feminist.

It's not about who deserves what. That's about power.

I'm waiting for the explanation for why death threats against a journalist don't deserve investigation

I never said that?

If the Chief is reporting a crime of course he gets actual attention and priority. Even if it's usually seen as minor for other people.

What?

Initially you defended the police here because you believed that anonymous death threats just can't be solved

After you learned that was wrong, you're now saying that a journalist just isn't as important as a police chief, even though there's no reason a death threat against a journalist should be a tougher case to solve than a threat against a police chief.

If your point is not that the case shouldn't be investigated because a journalist doesn't have enough "power", then what is your point here?

Don't worry, once the government finish setting up the thought police, people like the woman in the OP will be arrested before they can make posts on social media that upset religious communities for being "grossly offensive".

Why did you insist you never saw a case where one was solved? Was that all just a non-sequitur?

Darmik posted...
Sorry?

When we gave you all those examples of anonymous death threats that were solved, your response was "those are important people though!" as if that means anything. What was your intent with that if not to suggest only threats against powerful people should be taken seriously?

Anonymous ones over the internet or phone? I honestly doubt they do.

It's different if they know who's doing it which I mentioned originally.

As pointed out earlier the FBI did look into the Quinn/Sarkeesian threats.

That ended with;
- Phone calls tomorrow hard to track down.
- These people we found admitted it. They said they were joking so that's that

If this high profile case didn't even get anywhere what hope do most people have if they're being harassed online?

This isn't a defence. It's a criticism.

It's actually stunning how so many people in the UK are more ok with death threats than they are of criticizing Islam, one of the worst and most violent religions in the world today.

Such lies. It's almost non existent. Just another excuse to hate that which is different from the right wing.

Because as far as I can tell any story like the one in the op doesn't go anywhere. Internet harassment and death threats generally get ignored.

can we all just admit this is no longer a religion of peace(assuming that it ever was?) and just let them have their own country and let us have our own country?

it seems like Islam simply isn't interested in freedom of speech and other democratic values. It's one thing to protect free speech, it is quite another when said free speech is sparking movements hell bent on eradicating every piece of liberty until they install their own despot dictators.

Anita went to the UN about her death and rape threats and Mal/other gators laughed at her. I wonder what's with the about face.

Anita asked the UN to take action on messages like "you suck". Not even remotely comparable.

Down.
Playing.

Reading.
Comprehension.

I can't believe you're still not getting what I was explaining to you this entire time: we were laughing at her for wanting the UN to stop people from telling her she sucks, not for wanting them to take action on death threats.

How many more times do I need to tell you that before it penetrates your skull? 10 times? 20 times? Give me a number.

Imagine defending a woman who faked a bomb threat to her own symposium, just so she could get out of having it.

Do you have a source showing she did that?

The police who investigated her supposed bomb threat, said one never happened and there were no credible threats to the safety of the symposium, and were accused BY HER of "not doing enough" to guarantee the protection of said symposium.

Literally the only person who ever claimed there was a bomb threat was her. She didn't report it to the police - just a mass tweet. Her claim was then investigated, and found to not have any merit to it whatsoever. She still cancelled.

Just because investigations over death threats against regular people don't make the news doesn't mean they don't happen...are you actually under the impression that the police don't investigate death threats unless your job title is important enough?
