And the police refuse to investigate.

tl;dw: A woman dares to criticize Islam on social media, and people send her death threats over it. When she goes to the police (while livestreaming the event), they refuse to investigate the death threats because "the situation could have been avoided"

It's actually stunning how so many people in the UK are more ok with death threats than they are of criticizing Islam, one of the worst and most violent religions in the world today.

She shouldnt be getting death threats for expressing her freedom of speech in the form of being critical of the Islamic religion. Bad on the police for victim blaming her, if true.

Because lots of reasons. Namely there's little reason to believe in the credibility of most death threats delivered anonymously through the internet so it becomes a giant money sink for no reason.

Now sure that doesn't excuse the police blaming her for getting the threats but cops say dumb shit all the time. There's nothing unusual about not investigating death threats. One time in New York my apartment got burglarized and we called the police and they basically showed up looked around a bit, shrugged, and left. Real life investigation isn't like a TV crime drama is what they told us.

I dunno, its like poking a beehive and then complaining about the bees. You are welcome to say that its awful that we have a religion where this sort of behavior is more the norm than can coexist with modern society, but how do you suppose we control that? Through coercion? Thats how ISIS found its footing.

I think its obnoxious that people think they can avoid consequences for their actions. Its like throwing stones from behind a fence because youre confident nothing can reach you. death threats from losers on the internet who post "you deserve to die"

vs

death threats from a religion feared for it's violent sects

if police get involved in the former (i.e you get a message from a police department via text as a warning for you actions) people would revolt, and if they get involved in the latter it could cause these threats to become reality

Also, I'm 99.999% certain Zoe has gotten the police to investigate her threats.

I have been the target for 3 years nonstop of egregious online harassment in all levels. I think its important to recognize that harassment is, as someone had mentioned, its not just what is legal and illegal, right? Harassment is threats of violence, but its also the day to day grind of youre a liar, you suck, making all these hate videos to attack us on a regular basis, and the mobs that come from those hate videos, etcetra.
