I like my gaming laptop, but I prefer consoles so I do more gaming on my xbox. Nothing beats playing skyrim or civ in bed tho lol.

obviously you will get more bang for you buck with a desktop, but there are decent & affordable game laptops.

You can get a really solid machine for less than 1500 if you build it. Just do that and save the rest or buy a decent laptop too lol

Depends on your setup. If you have room for a desktop get that. But I love my Alienware 17r4.

If you want a nice laptop, get a premium ultrabook and ensure it doesn't have a GPU at all. Think Lenovo X1 Carbon. The integrated graphics of the newer models are enough to play current games on low settings.

$2,500 would get you a pretty good laptop but long-term a desktop is a better investment since you can upgrade what you want and they're easier to fix if something goes wrong with the hardware. Get a laptop if you value gaming anywhere you want in the house or if you travel around a lot (a gaming laptop is great if you often stay at other places).
With that money you could also consider getting both a desktop and a laptop. You can play games on your laptop using in-home Steam streaming if it's more about the convenience of playing anywhere you want in the house. It's really nice to play PC games in bed with the laptop on your lap. Problem is unless you shell out a LOT of money, they are not very future proof.

A lot of the advice In here is good and a lot of it is terrible.
