Fucking nerds started to treat it like religion and now nothing can ever live up to their ideals yet they keep pouring money into it. Fans don't know what they want it's all nostalgia from the original series. What made the original trilogy memorable was the simplicity of the story, the pacing of the story, and the relatable characters / writing. The Empire Strikes Back at least had a lot of non Lucas input and craftwork put into the script, and it showed, its really the only one thats always gotten solid critical praise.
