im thinking star alliance since it has Asiana to go to korea, United to fly around the USA, and Singapore Airlines for the rest of asia. also ANA for japan

I rarely fly the same airline consistently. I mean I guess you could seek out a single one but that tends to limit your choices and you can end up paying more that way right?

well on one hand, yeah you could fly which ever is cheapest and go that way

but on the other hand, if i stick to one airline/alliance, you get rewards. like priority lines, free upgrades, etc. and with all the points, ill be able to book free flights faster.

plus all the value of getting into lounges.

Sounds like you're based in USA. If you do a lot of Transatlantic flying then maybe Oneworld. Otherwise yeah I would go with Star Alliance. For us here in NZ they make the most sense to since Air NZ is part of it.
Skyteam is fine, but they seem biased towards Asia.

If lounges are a main perk you're interested in, you might still be better off just using something like Dragonpass, prioritypass etc rather than eating the costs that come with remaining too loyal to any given airline. Depends how much you fly and which airports you spend time in though.

i dunno man i have priority pass now. it can get me into one lounge at my home airport but only if im flying out of the international terminal, and the ones ive been to so far at other airports have all sucked.

recently i got into the star alliance lounge cuz i had a business class flight and WOW. AMAZING.

Definitely not Spirit. I've flown with them twice and had problems both times. Plus my ears hurt a lot for several hours after the flight. Other airlines I've flown that hasn't happened.

lol yeah im kinda worried about using them. but my flight last saturday was smooth. no delays or anything. when i flew american airlines i get delayed both ways.

I've never had major problems with United (some delays, never lost baggage), but holy shit is their staff rude and unprofessional. On every single flight.

They're just constantly overly passive aggressive to customers. They are impatient and treat people like assholes for no reason.
I've seen them yelling at people for not speaking in English, one flight attendant grabbed my arm once and started harassing me about my tattoos.

I am willing to bet that if you looked it up, United would have the oldest average flight attendant employed. I really get the feeling that they are from that jet setter generation of the 70s and 80s when being an attendant was more exciting and romanticized, and now they've been doing it for too long and instead of retiring they're all just jaded assholes.

I've literally never had issues like that on any other airline. Delta misplaced my luggage and it was late catching up to me by a day or two and I'd still rather fly Delta than United.

No, because I am fairly spineless.

It was towards the beginning of a long ass flight (11+ hours). I sat there and steamed about it for a couple of hours but afterwards I was just too tired to care. I guess in that respect I feel weird bringing it up as an example since I didn't do anything about it, but it is a pretty good example of why I don't like United.
