In a recent 4Gamer interview (via Hachima), Tabata discussed the DLC, saying, There is one thing I need to let everyone know, and that is perhaps it wont all be out only this year. (Thats right, the Royal Edition is not the complete version. There is more DLC coming!)

Tabata conceded that, yes, the original plan was 2018, but looking at the main games player survey satisfaction rate of 62.4 percent, Tabata thought more development time was necessary to finish up Final Fantasy XV.

Instead of fussing over during 2018, its necessary to ensure a reasonable development period, Tabata said. Weve decided to make four episodes through 2019, he told Famitsu in much more concrete terms in a separate interview.

I just don't know who's paying for ff15 DLC in 2019. Like what can they even do that would make me spend more money on this game.

Only 1/3 character DLCs was fun, I don't really want more of that game anymore.

I have to admit though. I admire the willingness to keep perfecting it and improving it. Instead of leaving a bad taste like MGS V

Just because it was 50+ hours doesn't mean it wasn't incomplete. I enyoyed the hell out of that game, but you could tell they rushed some things, particularly the second half of the story.

Wait, there's more? Yesterday I was looking at a complete edition thing (I can't remember the name but it said it included the four DLC's) but decided to wait for a sale...

There is defintely more coming. They like to trick as many people into buying it as they can, so you will see them use the "complete" edition tag, knowing full well they plan on adding more content to the game. Its sad to see SE fall to using these underhanded tactics, but its not entirely surprising

It's such a shitty business model because the episode DLC for Prompto, Gladio, and Ignis all should've been part of the game from the start. They literally fill in the blank to important story elements and the fact that they charge extra for that was unnecessary. The only dlc I think was justified was the comrades dlc because that felt like a totally different game (feels very tacked on though). With that said, the new 2019 DLC will have Ardyn and Aranea, which are 2 characters I care a lot about. I hope they go more into Ardyn's backstory in the episode because he's such a cool character.

I don't know if I'm impressed by their commitment to their product or disappointed that it was in development for so long to release in such an incomplete state in the first place just to make you buy the rest of the game after the fact.

If this means that we get an ending that isn't as shit as the one we have +playable Ardyn/Luna/Aranea, they can take all the time they want.

It sounds like the last episode is going to be a totally different (happy?) ending, I guess episode Ignis preluded to that.

I don't see a problem.

Not a big fan of the alternate stuff, I really enjoyed the game but that stuff annoys me, seems it's just from people complaining the ending wasn't "every character has a happy life"

And the game was finished on release, everything worked fine and the story flowed nicely, people just don't get the Noctis' POV thing.

in this case, it's a legit complain. the game director always pushed for this ending, look at the other games he directed like FFXIII and FF Type-0.

Tabata had nothing to do with FXIII.

He made Crisis Core where the sad element was already known before release.

And who cares if he made other sad endings, the one for FFXV was good. That's all that matters.

I enjoyed the first half of the game immensely. It was an amazing experience, actually. But then it collapsed into a pile of shit. If they continue adding DLC to flesh out the story and the mechanics, I will literally pay for another copy of the game and all the DLC so I can enjoy the game properly.

Are there any plans to make a Lunafreya DLC? I really wanted more out of the relationship between Noctis and Lunafreya.

Also, in the existing DLC do you play as other characters? How long are the DLCs right now? Do they do a good job of expanding the story and the characters or should I wait until the 2019 DLC is out before playing it?

I beat the main game when it came out but didn't do any of the post-game content or any of the DLCs.

DLCs aside from comrades are 2 hours bits where you plays as the Bros.

Then the royal pack which adds a dungeon to Chapter 14 with story content, along with some other new things.

The four new dlc packs that aren't out yet are Ardyn, Luna, Arnea and then apparently a "good fantasy" sequence with Noctis.

Good.

I dont mind sad endings but FFXVs completely goes against the main idea of the game (reclaim your throne)
