Today's poll of the day made me miss working at Gamecrazy. Haven't worked there in 15 years but it was ten times better than gamestop, eb, funcoland, etc.

Being able to play any game, new or used, in the store before buying it was awesome. So was MVP days and tournaments that we had. I still remember opening up Halo 2 and having a go at it in multiplayer with the small group of employees before release. We used to get commission based on the amount of MVP cards/renewals and warranties that we sold. It wasnt much but if you sold a lot of them you made a pretty great profit (I made more on commission than a 35 hour week one time).

To my knowledge other game shops don't do this. It's a shame Hollywood Video went out of business but not a surprise since it was around the time Blockbuster was hurting.

Actually user name has nothing to do with where I worked oh crap what if it does somehow..

I'll always remember Game Crazy b/c I ended up chatting w/ some guy that worked there about how I like RPGs, and a great story, and I love Suikoden, etc...
And he convinced me to pick up Baten Kaitos. And it was not an easy sell, I kind of mentally checked out the second I saw it was card-based. But he assured me it wasn't like a CCG and how great it was.

And damn, I fucking love the Baten Kaitos series! Probably would've never even known of it, let alone decided to play it if not for that dude.

It's funny how a bunch of my favorite series, I only discovered/tried by chance. Like...Suikoden, my favorite series of all... I was at Aims (yeah, long time ago) and wanted Wild 9, but they had a B1, G1 sale. I hadn't even heard of any of the other games and narrowed it down to some RTS (I think?) game w/ toy-looking tanks and stuff or....this weird RPG w/ romance novel cover art. Thank god I went w/ the romance novel-looking one!

I never went to Gamestop until Gamecrazy closed down and I've never liked it as much as I liked Gamecrazy

I really liked GameCrazy too. I bought Skies of Arcadia Legends for $20 there back in the day. They used to have the best selection in the area.

It was a brand of Hollywood video and connected to them. You might mean Gamexchange

No arv thinks its game craze or something similar
