No stealing or murdering. Don't join the Thieves Guild or Dark Brotherhood.

I guess it's doable but man I think that would be a dry experience.

I usually play a Paladin type character.

Honestly I hope "destroy the dark brotherhood" is canon.

Are you able to do that? I thought Elder Scrolls usually won't let you kill off important quest NPC's. Or is it a choice in the questline? Been a while since I played their questlines.

You don't kill all of them so they can handwave in the sequel anyhow.

When Astrid kidnaps you and forces you to kill one of the people in the shack you can instead just attack her, this leads to a different branch where you attack the DB.

Ahh ok. But to get that you still need to murder the orphanage lady right?

That's a thing about games that let you choose your morality. When I was a teen, I was evil in kotor and Fable but now I'm pretty embarrassed about that.

Yeah.

I don't hate the DB I just kind of want to play an assassin without the weird death cult stuff.

That was kind of what the Skyrim Dark Brotherhood was trying to be though. Just a group of assassins.

The difference with Elder Scrolls is that usually you don't have to choose between being good and evil. You can be both. The good/evil questlines are separate things that don't really interact with each other.

I dunno I think the Morag Tong did it better in Morrowind.

It's kind of funny because Astrid was running the DB as just a group of assassins but your character and Cicero come along.

I always start of morally good, and slowly degrade into the scourge of Tamriel as the game unfolds. Betrayed by a quest giver? Another slip down the slope. Framed for murders in Markarth? Well, now I don't feel bad robbing the entire city blind. Marry Iola, and her 'friend' moves in with us? Oh, the next group of bandits I encounter are getting murdered, slowly, reanimated, and Fus Ro Dah'd until the rag doll mechanics get their corpse stuck in the scenery.

I have, in fact one of my favorite characters was a "Knight Errant" type that only did good guy quests. Granted, there were some where I had to "cheat" a little and do some finagling to justify. (Like the Jaree-Ra quest in Skyrim. I think I tried to justify it as my character wanting to make sure the soldiers weren't hurt or something). Also they had no problem killing Grelod because child abuse is bad mkay.

I did it in Morrowind since that game actually encouraged roleplaying, but in Oblivion and Skyrim there's absolutely no reason to avoid the DB or Thieves Guild
