well, it doesn't have to be a danganronpa title given the ending, idc about monokuma or anything, but I want another killing game filled with trials and twists and turns. there's nothing else like it imo. I want them to just make a new canon and surprise us

yeah I know, I just really like the idea of that game. the killing game, trials, etc.

my two favorite series ever are Ace Attorney and Danganronpa. I clearly have a pattern

yes, its not getting absolutely stale and repetetive after like 4 games and an anime about the same thing. I bet you think boruto is a masterpiece of anime.

Have you tried out the Zero Escape series? Its kinda similar, remotely. But far better IMO.

There's also TWEWY.

Neither of them follow the formula of battle royale though or have court cases.

There's also Umineko, which is a VN and not a game, but does have inspiration from Phoenix Wright and involves a death game of sorts.

I haven't played Dangan so I'm avoiding any post with plot elements but since it's very to close to AA you should check out Ghost Trick. I don't typically like time travel stories but the story is pretty interesting and the major twist is amazing. Though at the end I still don't really like how the time travel was implemented >_>

I've played through all of ZE, loved them, even 3. I bought Umineko, I'll eventually get around to it but its length puts me off.

I started ghost trick on release but never finished it. I should really pick it back up, I was just stuck on something and was too stubborn to look up how to get past it

You'll probably want to start over though since the story can get pretty convulated and the ending wants you to remember the stuff from the very beginning which you probably don't after 8 years lol. You could probably breeze past what got you stuck now though since I remember the puzzles were nowhere near as obscure as some of the more stupid solutions in the early AA games.
Great music too.
The Layton series might also be something to check out since the third game and the entire prequel trilogy has really touching stories but the gameplay honestly gets in the way of it so I personally just watched youtube videos of them.
