Holy cow the front page is pretty much just Doug's stuff and the Snobs. Eh it was a stepping stone for most folks and all my favorites had moved on before this mess started.

It sounds like a combination of Doug and friends being jerks and everyone being petty to at least a small extent. Basically, the place was full of cliques and was poorly managed, people got burned, and then it all came out in one big news dump. Some complaints were valid, other things came off like butthurt swipes. Overall though, the place sounds genuinely toxic and the "plaintiffs" seem more "right."

CinemaSnob and Guru Larry are the only other two people left on the site now.
As a former longtime fan of Nostalgia Critic I'm kinda bummed out that during all this time so many people have been miserable.

Seems like there was a ton of shit going on. People not getting paid, contracts being broken etc.
I assume most of the people still on it are contracted for their 10th anniversary special and can't get refunded on their plane tickets.
The website is going to die any day now.

So is the site actually shutting down now or are droves of people leaving?

People left in droves.

It's not shut down yet as far as we know.

There's been 1 new video in the past 3 days and I suspect there's even that only because Doug was already working on it before the mass exodus.

It's been like this for a while.

It's basically only Doug stuff and Tamara'd stuff for the past few months.

And then there's that one guy who does horrible "top 5" lists. I actually stopped subbing because I couldn't stand seeing his smug face show up in my feed

I haven't kept up from from the bits I've read a lot of their content creators agreed to bad deals, didn't quit because they hated their job, than a bunch of them quit at the same time while creating a lot of drama about how their jobs sucked.

A large amount of documentation of mismanagement and incompetence from the owners was created by producers who had previously left channel awesome. While there's no way to know how much of it is true, if even a fraction is then its really bad.

In response to this, Channel Awesome released a fake apology ("We're sorry if anyone got upset.") That made people mad.

So then Channel Awesome, rather than apologizing, sent out another response where it just attacked a cherry picked few of the complaints. One of those complaints was that someone who had been sexually grooming fans was ignored by the management for over a year. The identity of this person and the person who wrote the complaint were intentionally kept anonymous.

In Channel Awesome's attempt to defend themselves they posted chat logs of a discussion to prove they actually did take action. But in so doing they accidentally revealed the identity of the person who was doing the sexual harassing.

And that made everyone very upset. It was what led to the complete exodus of all the producers. If you're wondering why they got upset about the identity being revealed.. They had a very good reason, but out of respect for the person who wrote the complaint, I won't say who. You can find it if you really want. But the reason does make sense.

At this point, only Brad and Guru Larry are on the site. Brad because he doesn't want to abandon his friends when things are going bad, and Guru Larry because he wants to be the last person to leave channel awesome, for some reason.

Apparently, once the moderators left the site, the remaining fans on the site started posting inappropriate images in the forums, including pornography, and breaking every forum rule since they were unsupervised. In response, not only were the forums shut down, but so were the blog section and store as well. I don't know how much longer they can last.
