Yes her prior knowledge of her parents stance absolutely does matter.

My mother used to constantly tell me that I'm not allowed to date outside of my race, and if I did she'd kick me out. Now I'm engaged to someone of a different race and my mother has been a huge supporter throughout my entire relationship.

It really doesn't seem all that out of the question to put your once prior bigoted beliefs aside and support your children, maybe I'm just lucky Idk.

I mean if she knew her parents would disapprove then it's on her for choosing to marry him. She knew what she was getting into. Can't really fault the parents here.

So she is supposed to make adult life changing decisions solely on what her parents force her to do? If you live like that then boy do you live a poor life.

It's her life so she should be able to do as she pleases, not cater to the every whim of her parents.

Did I say that? No.

She can do whatever she wants except be upset when her parents don't accept her husband since she knew their stance beforehand.

I hope this is low tier bait, otherwise this is some shit for logic. Leave it to CE to defend racism in the dumbest way possible. Amazing.

You could not care. They're not your parents so they don't matter.

Also I've seen Asians accept Black People they think are high status like doctors or lawyers or even just like...normal job-having 'successful' Black People.

It's all about status. They'd kill to have their daughter marry say, an NBA player.

About equal to the divorce rate of white women and all none-white men actually. Black men have lower divorce rates with Asian and Hispanic women, white women have high divorce rates with everyone not white, black men have the highest divorce rate with black women strangely enough.

My opinion is that if you know that your parents draw the line at black men, and you're sure that you want to be with him and won't regret it then step over that line but you have to accept the consequences just like you would have to accept sacrificing your own happiness to please your parents if you made the opposite choice.

In short, most Asians are not shy about their biases. Some whites may be raised to not discriminate and then ne shocked when their parents suddenly have a limit on tolerance(this is very common) but it is pure delusion for Asians to act this way. She should have accepted losing her family and not complained.

Disagree if you want to. I'm black and been through it. Korean girl when I was 19. She never even argued with her parents, literally packed her shit and moved in with me. Eventually they cooled off and apologized. Even to this day they're friendly with me(they own a local business) but She never listened to them after that as far as dating went...and they never tried to buck on her if she was with a non Korean guy again.

All these people that want to cry and be sad are doing the wrong thing. If you don't like it, change it. If you know your family will throw you away for dating outside your race, throw them away and raise your own kids differently. And yes, as shitty as it is,they're entitled to their views. That's not the same as saying they're right.

1. Stereotypes based on what they see in the media.

2. More pragmatically, some may own stores in inner cities and have been victim of crimes committed by Black criminals or otherwise been witness to unruly behavior from the locals.

3. Asian cultures' own beliefs about light skin vs. dark skin.

4. The idea that forming relationships with White people (romantic or otherwise) will increase their status in society, whereas doing so with Black people will lower it and earn the derision of their peers and family.

Of course, these don't apply for all Asians, but it explains some things about those who feel this way.

In a lot of Asian cultures, dark skinned people (including dark skinned Asians) are seen as unattractive. Combine that with how the image Black people are portrayed AND portray themselves as in media, they build assumptions on that. That we're ghetto, uneducated, rebellious, etc.

Pretty accurate. With the story I mentioned with my brother, I believe it was all of those things that made the parents racist but #2 in particular. Supposedly, a black guy mugged or stole from the father once.

I think the ignorance is attributing behavior to race or skin color when it seems like more of a class issue.

Classism is also part of the issue in some Asian cultures as well. Darker-skinned people are seen as low class workers, while the lighter-skinned ones are more elite.

This is taken up to eleven in American society, at least.

They seem to give a benefit of a doubt to White people, but Black people are guilty automatically and someone who hasn't done anything wrong has to work more than twice as hard to dispel those beliefs, and even then, it may not be enough.

Which kind of has the implication that they'd sooner date a White person from the inner city, than a Black person born and raised in the suburbs.

I admit that it can be rather discouraging. Plus, with the serious lack of male role models in the Black community and that many educated Black women are seeking Black men who are at their level or at least have their head on straight with a stable career, part of me feels that I'd be doing a disservice by dating/marrying a non-Black woman.

Not that I don't like Black women, but I do have my own preferences...

Specifically, it's Asian women, not all non-Black women. That said, perhaps it's a "grass is greener" thing, but it's also because I like the physical features of Asian women. I'm not sure why it's something to feel bad about, though.

Fetish and stereotype. I hope you never touch an Asian woman ever, because they're "ideas" to you and not human beings obviously. And What do you even mean by Asian? Japanese? Korean? Chinese(there's like 6 major different chinese phenotypes)? Thai? Cambodian? Filipino? Laotian? Polynesian?
