Cellphone videos shows the "hip" teacher encouraging students to SLAP each other at Montville High School as he plead NOT GUILTY to 2 counts of risking injury to a child and 4 counts of second degree reckless endangerment and breach of peace He denied facilitating the fight but said he thought the fights were just being "rambunctious" His statement reads "I just try to be the teacher that the kids could come to and actually express themselves and actually work through their issues, kind of have a social thing. I wanted to be that cool and hip teacher who could hang with as one of their own" He was 22 at the time of the fights and believes letting students get their "anger" and "energy" out was a good thing...even though he admitted to EGGING them on He was fired last October after a student told a social worker he had been BEATEN at school..and that his TEACHER made him get beat up!! Ryan was seen in the video moving away desks and a trash can as he yelled "let's get the party started" Ryan thought the fights was just horseplay but knew it got out of hand when things got too far He said "The truth is, i'm an idiot and wanted to be friend them when i should have been their teacher. I'm immature. I am so sorry, because i'll be totally honest, i was trying to reach the kids. I thought these kids are just being rambunctious, i thought they just needed an out. I really did and i thought that woudl help me get to them but i didn't realize what was happening at the time. I didn't know.
