because hulk had one shitty movie and war machine was an ancillary character in another

also, they both only had appearances 10 years ago. hulk was replaced 6 years ago and war machine was replaced 8 years ago
not as easy to have cap and tony replaced after 10+ years

he's also operating on a sliding timeline which is why you have bond doing stuff in the cold war and in the present conflicts

the marvel comics world does that too. it's been going since the 60's in a sliding timescale. in universe, the Avengers got founded like 10 years ago or something.

Im ok with Marvel doing stories with new characters. If they get the xmen IP they could easily recast Wolverine and have him and Spiderman train the next group of Avengers.

They could bring in Iron Maiden from the comics, have Bucky become Captain America, have a Thor from a parallel world come in, or use Jane Foster Thor, bring in Totally Awesome Hulk instead of the normal one.

There's good ways to change the actor AND the character, without making it too jarring. Mind you I don't suggest they do all of these things in a single movie, but set up a film for each character for their replacement to come to the stage, and then do a New Age Avengers kind of thing.

she hated doing Thor 1 and had to be forced into Thor 2 and then quit

one person who doesn't deserve to be in the MCU is the girlfriend in Doctor Strange. she initially was offered a role (I think for Pepper Potts maybe) but she rejected it. then when the MCU became a big hit she changed her mind and asked for another chance.

Pretty sure Connerys original replacement wasnt very popular and he was dragged back for a few more movies.

Changing actors will always have teething pains. They could do it with MCU, but if they do they should pull a Bond so each "generation" has a distinct feel to it.

similar to Doctor Who, although that has an in-universe explanation
