Why not send my parcels in a mailbox instead of making things inconvenient for them and me by having me pick up the parcel at shoppers drug mart?

They don't.

But look at the funding for the cbc. Or healthcare relative to far more proficient countries universal health programs. Or the way we export raw products and buy processed goods back. Canada is not and has never been efficient.

Because they're terrible. I had the same thing happen last week. The most annoying thing is they leave you a note saying that they tried to deliver it in person but couldn't contact you, but they actually don't try to contact you at all because I was home that whole day and they didn't actually buzz the intercom at all.

I've never had a problem with them. Does the parcel fit the mailbox? If it's too big you need to pick it up. The office's format could differ by location or by postmaster's preference. Sometimes I'll have a parcel delivered right to my house.

The driver at my old house was pretty fucking awful, and half the clerks at the pick up locations were utterly useless.

They'd regularly mark off packages as "delivery attempted notice left in mailbox" at like 7am (when the truck didnt hit my house until 11) and then they wouldnt even put the notice in my mailbox until a day or two later, which is great because there were two pickup locations they'd send me stuff to. Or my personal favourite, I'd see it loaded onto the truck on the tracker, be home waiting for it because it required a signature, and I'd literally watch him drive past the house and then a couple minutes later mark it as a failed delivery attempt (and not even leave the notice).

One time in particular I had an expensive international package coming and they just never put the notice in my mailbox at all. Then 2 weeks after it was "delivered" I got the pick up reminder card saying they were holding it for 7 more days. Went to get it the next day and they told me I waited too long (despite the date on the card and the tracking saying it was still there) and that they already returned it to the sender and there was nothing they could do.

They're actually one of the main reasons I cancelled my Prime membership. Somehow Amazon still doesn't have anyway for us to set a preference for a shipper despite all the problems Purolator / Canada Post seem to cause their customers.

My parcels should be able to fit in the larger mailbox.

Thats why we have one.

I mean one time all I bought was a Pokmon HeartGold cartridge (nothing but the cartridge) and the delivery men refused to put it inside the mailbox

Yeah that's really stupid of them.

Still significantly better than the alternatives.

Also much like it's counterpart USPS the right-wing of the government is trying to sink it so they can privatize it and make some rich fucks even more rich.

I haven't really had issues with Canada Post other than the usual "we looked at your door and counted that as an attempted delivery" but that's something endemic to every courier service.

Well why not put the delivery in the mailbox if no one's home?

I live in an area with those community mailboxes, so they actually do, but if it's too big then they leave a notice.

Generally Canada Post doesn't like to leave packages where other people can steal them.

Unlike UPS, who one time left the rims for my winter tires in a neat 4-box stack right on my front step in full view of the entire neighbourhood and anyone who drove by.

My sister ordered something from Amazon and Intelcom left the package in the rain until the box was soaked through.

My neighbour works at Canada Post so anytime I have a package coming I let him know and he grabs it for me. It's great.

I'm not talking about community mailboxes, I'm referring to people who still magically have door-to-door delivery, which is what I assumed was going on here. In that instance your package drop options are very limited.

Oh I was referring to community mailboxes.

I doubt door to door mailboxes can hold a parcel anyways
