It was a surprisingly great film. I went in with the lowest expectations, so maybe that ended up helping its case.

Really though. Movies are expensive but that's a bit extreme. Worst case scenario I'd spend $30 on reserved seating and the biggest popcorn but I usually only spend $20-$25.

If my partner and I go to the theater it will easily be $50.

Plus good for Sony Pictures they needed a win after all the flops they made. God, i wish more people saw Baby Driver.

I know Emjoi Movie made too much money too. Can't wait for Smurf 4.... which still makes over $100 millions and i don't know one person who has seen one of those moives. (the first smurf movie made half a billion dollars)

My local theaters charges $15ish for non-3D reserve recliner seats. If we do a morning show it'll usually be $9-10. I personally never buy snacks at movie theaters. I find it a little distracting, waste of money, and don't want salty/sticky fingers until the movie ends.

They make you pay extra for reserved seating? The more I hear the more I think Marcus is above average. All seating is reserved and has been for several years.

Depends on the location I think. For the theaters I've been to around Los Angeles County, reserve seats and first-come-first-serve seats are about the same price. Most of the theaters with reserve seats uses recliners now instead of the typical seats.

My local theater reduced the number of seats per room to maybe half and made them all into recliner. Overall I think the changes have been for the better. I can buy my ticket hours or days ahead and not worry about getting the good seats or waiting in line. I don't care about the comfort of the seats but to my friends it make for a better experience.

Depends. Typecasting from a viewer point-of-view kinda takes away the experience when watching a new show/movie. For example I can't see Harrison Ford as anyone but Han Solo or Indiana Jones.

Do you guys with the expensive theater only have like one around you?
When I saw 3d dbox with a big (similar to Imax) screen, it was like 21$ a ticket, but I was still trying to figure out discounts and Idk if I'd do that again.
I typically pay around $10-$12 for 3d tickets now, with reclining chairs and online convenience fees.

Back to the topic though, this was a pretty funny movie. Nothing special, but some good action and hilarious comedy.

I have four theaters near me. A united artists, a century, the local theater (which I think is considered a century as well) and then studio movie grill that is half restaurant half movie theater that serves food and drinks to you as the movie is going.

Besides studio movie grill, the other three are the same price.

Standard matinee - 9.50$
3D matinee - 13.50$
Standard - 12.50$
3D - 16.50$

And then Tuesdays are discounted to 5$ for standard and 10$ for 3D at every theater except studio movie grill.

I have gone to a 3D movie with four people and paid for everything and ended up spending over 100$.

As many have said, Century theaters are only $5 on Tuesdays and they are everywhere. You can sneak in soda, and snacks (which most people going on tuesdays to save 3$ from the matina price probably do). So total cost....$5 to see a movie. Cheaper then waiting and watching on demand if solo, and about the same ($7.99 a pop) if going with 1 person.

Heck if you go before 4pm any day, it's the same price as waiting and renting it from on demand.

Movie theater Popcorn blows anyway, get some good microwaved kettle corn to bring with you (helps if you are a girl or bring one who has a purse, but many mens coats can sneak stuff in as well (or wear a backpack etc).

And now...if you actually watch more then 2 movies a month (I don't), you can get Movie pass which lets you watch as many as you want (but only once) for $10 a month. I'll be watching 3 in May, but....not worth getting to save $5 for one month lol.

Anyway, if you spend $50+ to go to the theater, it's your choice, it's certainly not mandatory. If your paying for other people, that also really doesn't count, as it's not just you going to the movies, it's a bunch of people.

Ive paid for me and my girlfriend to go to the movies several times. The total cost has never been more than $22 for tickets. We usually dont eat anything while we watch. If we do, we just go to WalMart or the dollar store beforehand to get two $1 boxes of candy which she sneaks into the movie using her purse. Total cost is always less than $25 for just two.

The three closest are all Regal and all in malls. Prices vary by about 50 cents given the mall.

Matinee: $10.50
Standard adult: 12.50

That's for the one closest to me.

We have a movie tavern about 25-30 minutes away. Roughly the same price for tickets.

I've thought about grabbing a movie pass. I just don't go often enough currently. If they had movie pass about 7 years ago I could have used it. My friend and I went to the movies like 16 times one year. Last year I think I went 4? I've been once or twice so far this year.
