What compels someone, especially an entire group of people into rape? Rape is the most horrendous crime to inflict on a person, and should be punishable to the maximum sentence.

You could argue that, but at least in murder the victim is dead. Living through rape, someone has to adjust themselves to feel comfortable with being touched again, feeling adequate to be loved by someone, not having nightmares about being raped and trying not to think about it. On top of that everyone involved in a raped persons life has to struggle with it too, whereas in most murders they at least get closure knowing the murderer was put away. There's never closure in rape.

When someone is raped, all of their power and ability to choose is taken away from them.

I dunno I would take that over being fucking dead and having no chanse at all to heal.

The physical damage causing questions about whether or not she can have children prove it was absolutely forced in every conceivable way.

I mean you're pretty bias against Black People in your previous post history but...

explain to me what the apology means then? Like why would one of the guys even mention that she was 13? Do you think the judge was like 'oh that's good, so he only rapes adults.' It'd make no sense to say that or mention it at all, if it wasn't statutory.

Since when does violent rape get no prison time, especially for Black males in America? We've had literal celebrities, millionaires do time for rapes that they likely didn't even commit, but these guys get off with gangrape? That doesn't add up.

I'm trying to piece information together and make sense of things, not trying toe excuse anything. I already said it's bad what happened but given the context clues, it's not the worst case scenario everyone's imagining.

Also proof on that physically not having kids part and that MEANING that it's rape?

I am not trying to ruin his life. If someone does not want to be in the public spotlight they should not work for the public.

I mean, as much as I want to knee jerkingly agree, afaik it's the prosecution who determines the plea deal in the first place and the judge just accepts it, so if we're blaming the system for letting these fuckos off easy, we should be giving the district attorney's office shot for offering such a lenient deal... not that the judge is in the right for okaying it, but from my understanding, there is more responsibility weighing on the prosecutors.
