I have spent most of my childhood/adulthood here. Age 7-20 and age 25-31.

What I like.

1. A lotta sunshine.
2. Not many bugs/pests. Its dry and there is a yearly freeze to exterminate all but the hardiest pests. At the the same time most of the year it is great weather wise. The colds are cold enough to exterminate the roaches and mosquitoes I saw en masse is more tropical places. I see more Prairie Dogs than large insects here. And prairie dogs are annoying when you twist your ankle stepping in a hole but they are also just cute little barking rodents.

3. Generally good peoples- I feel like people in this part of the country are generally friendly. When I'm driving out east visting my grandmother near Philidelphia I feel like people are a bit nastier as drivers and in general just because they are crunched into a small area. When I lived in the deep South there was that friendly Southern vibe but I get that the confederate flags waving around and the general poverty could seem unwelcoming to people.

4. Prosperity- We are winners in Colorado. Healthy, wealthy, just generally better than most people *brushes the haters off and directs them to the statistics.

I mean it is honestly more that we draw in the best than produce the best but what is the difference in terms of who is your neighbor? We are the fittest state in the country and close to being the most educated. We live in a land with vast space to grow and beautiful scenery and we pretty damn close to the middle of the country so we are in a decent reach of both east and west and though all states have issues with roads and air traffic Colorado does better than most because we are young. Basically nothing in this state existed when most of the infrastructure in the North east and Cali was built so everything here is newer by default.

That is the beauty of it though. We have everything. If you want to do mountain things you can go west and ski and snowboard and hike and generally do all the wild things in the mountains. If you want to go out west to be in 'the heartland' of America and live in the cornfields and the ranching lands that is eastern Colorado. If you want to live in the ultra urban city with clubs, concerts, museums, and anything else you would associate with big city life that is Denver. If you want to live in a more conservative and right wingy area with all the pros I listed without the politics of hippy nature folk that is Colorado Springs. If you want to live in San Francisco without living in San Francisco that is Boulder.

We have everything.

Home prices have got a lot more expensive in the past 10 years that is the usual gripe I hear here.
