21 y/o Danger Man, Christopher Mark Newhouse Jr from Florida has lost his rights to own GUNS as a judge has granted police the right to SEIZE his firarms, a law that was inspired by the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas!!

The Tallahassee Police Dept raided his home to seize all of his firearms because he "poses a significant danger of causing personal injury to himself or others in the near future" said Judge J Lee Marsh

He has a history of mental illness and making threats to others online

This is the first of its kind in FLorida where a law was made easier for police to remove firearms from the possession of people with proven mental health issues

The renegade owned an AR-15 and 2 semi-automatic rifles and has a long history of making threats to kill himself, his former clasmates AND police since April of last year

Police were called to his house where he admitted to firing an AR-15 while DRUNK..here surrendered his rifle at that point.

The police has 4 good reasons to take away his guns including recent threats to going on a murder-suicide and threats of violence in the last 12 months while brandishing a firearm

He also wrote on social media "Pigs got to die" in reaction to getting a traffic citation and threatened to kill police. He said he had a desire to kill people because he didn't care if he lived or died.

Chris also was admitted to the loony bin but had a LOADEDE SEMI-AUTO weapon in his car..The psychologist said he suffered psychosis and said he shouldn't own guns

In March 2018, he was admitted again for being suicidal. In 2017, he went to a bank and made a large deposit and referenced getting a gun and ROBBING it

Chris will now appear in court to state he has surrendered all of his firearms and ammo as the new law calls for immediate surrender of any weapons if they are mentally ill or have been to a mentally ill facility

His social media states he was also a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment and free speech and linked several stories to Donald Trump's victories of "making america great again"

Christopher will NEVER be able to own guns for the rest of his life.

Do you think it was right to take away this kid's guns??

I vehemently oppose stripping people of their rights without due process but there appears to have been due process in this case

Edit: In addition, if an adult can't be trusted with their constitutional rights then they need to be put away from society

I call bullshit on the statements of the article. If he was as crazy as they said he was then he would have shot at the cops instead of just giving the guns up.

It should be temporary, not permanent. He's 21. There's a lot of time for him to clean up his act. These kinds of things should either last 5-10 years or allow a new hearing every 5-10 years. Right now he probably shouldn't have guns, though.

Anyone who said "no" in this instance is, and I typically refrain from directly attacking people, but an absolute and total moron. If this guy has a psychotic episode, he could very easily end up causing a lot of harm to many people. The right to shoot pieces of metal into paper targets and defend your house from the people who will never rob it while you're inside does not apply here.

The fact that you'd think that is pretty stupid, though. The "No" in context may not necessarily be "No, he shouldn't have his guns taken" but instead an objection to the time-frame. He's a punk now, but he might not be a punk in 10 years, let alone 20 or 30. This is a permanent decision over a maybe-potential threat right now. As a short-term, it seems to justify taking his weapons, but this isn't a short-term measure, this is permanent. And there's simply not enough to justify a lifetime ban.

Last I checked, mental illnesses were for life. He shouldn't be ostracized for that, but precautions certainly should be made.

Not if they know what's good for them-they talk a big game but they tend to keep their mouth shut when it comes to dead kids.

You *really* need to check again, particularly considering that one of the only mental illnesses mentioned here is risk of suicide which few (if any) qualified professionals would claim is a life-long illness. And your loud ignorance on mental health is one more reason why mental illness stigmatized in this country and people are less likely to seek help.
