I find it ironic that Americans dump on France so much, when without them it would've been impossible to achieve independence. Directly by arming the rebellion and indirectly by fighting a global war of conquest against the British, spreading their forces thin, France should be revered by Americans to the same extent George Washington is.

What else is ironic? I'm British and German and just stuck up for my mortal enemy ;)

Yeah, but NONE of those people are alive today. America and France now are nothing like America and France then.

Yeah, but NONE of those people are alive today. America and France now are nothing like America and France then.

True, but credit and respect for your country existing thanks to another doesn't expire. Especially when that aid lead to the fall of the French monarchy and years of civil unrest. Everyone has a raging boner for the plantation owners and farmers who took up arms and that never diminishes.

I hear ya, but I am attempting to learn French right now and the language might be the most rediculous of all the languages I have tried to learn.
