The thing is, eventually, you're going to have to friendzone her. If that's going to make her stop hanging out with you, then that's inevitable and there's nothing you can do to stop it. If anything, rejecting her sooner increases the likelihood she'll want to stay around as a friend, since she won't be as emotionally invested.

I mean, it will be emotionally painful for her to be around you if you can't reciprocate her feelings. That shouldn't be too difficult to understand. Asking her to stay your friend is asking her to constantly expose herself to something she really really wants but can't have. Sounds like she isn't willing to do that.

It's possible with some time her feelings will change (or i suppose it's faintly possible yours will) and it may eventually be able to be different but if thats gonna happen you two are gonna need some space and probably for a long time.

I mean, I am on your side really. It's a shitty situation to be put in and it feels so sudden and unfair. The thing is, the ball is in her court and she already gave the answer you don't want to hear. The back and forth is really something like "I love you, can you feel the same way?", "sorry, but I can't feel that way, can we still be friends", "No, I wouldn't be able to take that, I'm sorry.". She just went ahead and said both her lines first. If she isn't willing to go through that pain then theres nothing you can do. Honestly, it's probably for the best. If she did agree to still be friends it would probably implode a little ways down the line and in a much less pleasant way than this.
