Eh, if they get rid of me, they'd end up just having to hire another network engineer to manage the network. I'm the only network guy and nobody in the organization understands networking as well as me.

I've got large projects I'm working on, but nothing can be done about them today or tomorrow.

Nah, the changes that need to be made are on devices that I don't control. It'll be a conference call, and my role in it will be to essentially tell them what changes need to be made, when to actually start making those changes, and then verifying that network traffic is still flowing after those changes are made.

Should be a 10 to 15 minute thing, but it's the kind of thing where I don't want to do it during the week. I could probably get away with it since there shouldn't be any interruption. If something happens to go wrong, then I would have some splaining to do about what happened and why I was doing said thing during business hours.

whenever we install to production the actual 'work' is done by an Ops person but I provide them with scripts to execute instead of dictating commands.

i still have to be available in case something goes wrong and they need to call me, but if its smooth sailing i'm not bothered.

im sure you know your job better than i do, just an idea.
