Old topic got purged.

Started at 186 last week. This morning I weighed in at 182. It's been 10 days.

Goal is 170 by June and then at that point decide on my next goal. No point in making specific super long term goals. But eventually I will do a clean bulk.

Me too, dude. Started at 250 a month ago and down to 240. We got this.

How tall are you? Just curious because 200 would be about my lightest Id be comfortable at.

I'm 6 flat. I don't look fat or anything in clothes but I have a lot of flab and love handles that I wanna get rid of. i wanna ideally get in athletic shape. I wanna be able to dunk. At 186 and no lifting in half a year, I could grab the rim with 1 hand, so I'm pretty confident I can do it. I've been doing plyometrics after every workout too.

I suspect a good weight for me would be 165-170.

I'm 6' 172 currently, lowest I've been was about 168 on a good day. I have an okay amount of muscle/strength so I don't look like a stringbean, but people definitely tell me I'm skinny looking.

My suggestion is to get down here then slow bulk and put on mass. 0.5-1lb gain a week with a good 4-5 lifting program. Linear progression for strength with accessory work for size.

Lifts r weak. I haven't lifted a single weight in like 6 months and at that time I think I lifted for a few weeks total. And before that it had been another 6 months.

So basically I'm doing 3 d/week full body workouts. I just started last week so I started off very light just to work my way in. So I'm lifting like 35s on bench, squat is like 25s right now but that should go up fast and dead is 35s too, started at 25s last week. Started sqauts with just the bar last week lol.

Most I've ever done is 3 plates dead, 2 and a half plates squat and 1plate +25s on bench. But same shit happened to me where I abandoned it cuz work/school got too busy and it went to shit.

I lost 30lbs in 4 months from calorie counting (200->170). It was pretty easy.

Honestly I think everyone should calorie count for like a month. It gives u good insight into what ur eating and how it's a lot worse than u would think.

I realized most things that are not good for you don't look terrible cuz they don't always have a ton of calories but their macros are all messed up. Example bag of lays chips is 140 calories, that's nothing, but it has 16g fat which is exactly half my fat goal for the day. Or it'll be overloaded with sugars.

Yeah. It was less "counting calories" for me, and just the entire idea of paying attention to the shit. Cutting out a lot of things that had a fuck ton of sugar in it and things like that. Like Cleara above, just doing that and consciously eating less (for example, getting a small combo instead of a medium when doing fast food) I lost about 50lbs in a summer or so.

That's why keto is so effective for most people, not because cutting carbs is some sort of magic bullet (it's not), but because it restricts all the empty garbage like soda, candy, cookies, chips, etc.

Dang, isn't the daily value 60g for fat? So you can theoretically eat like 4 bags and not get fat. Unless going the DV maximum % or g isn't the way to losing fat.

Of course calorie counting works. If you take in fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. It doesn't get any simpler.

Honestly even beyond tracking macros, simple calories in vs calories out can be kinda shocking. Now that Im counting, I can occasionally have what seems like a terrible day, going like 700-800 over my goal, and Id still be on pace to maintain. Really puts into perspective just how shitty I must have been eating to be gaining.

Im 63-64 on a good day, so that explains some of the weight difference. 240 now and Id be thrilled to even see the 210s, I havent been below 228 (I think) since high school. Think I spent most of my high school career around 215. I was pretty thin then though, so Im not sure if my goal of 200 will be too light on my frame. Well see.

Macros are obviously even more effective but I get why tracking that can become daunting or chore-like for people. Tracking just calories is pretty simple, though. Everyone should try it.

This.

So another solid day today, 1500 calories. 40% Carbs, 40% protein, 20% fat. I make it a point to have at least 1-2 servings of fruits and 1-2 servings of vegetables every day. Also had a solid lifting day - whole body workout, 3 days / week.

Tomorrow is my cheat meal, cant wait to get some chipotle and a drink of scotch im thinking steak burrito and yamazaki. I wanted my cheat meal to land on a workout day but whatever.

So I did my cheat meal but I ended up having a serving of ice cream and a couple M&Ms yday too. Got carried away.

My total calories still seem to be just about 2500 which is my maintanence.

Problem is today a couple work buddies want to go to happy hour tonight. Im gonna try to eat before I go so I dont end up eating garbage when Im out. And one of those work buddies will essentially be my superior next year, so I need to be on his good side. And Ima make sure I lift and do cardio before I go, so Im already at a calorie deficit.
