Unless you're expecting them to find a missing note, why would you expect that as the months roll on, we'd eventually come to a motive if we didn't find one relatively quickly?

If by interesting you mean odd, then yes.

Maybe this guy was truly an isolated case, and he wanted to die and take as many people with him and have "fun" while doing it before the end. But who knows?
