Current Events > My family is having a bit of a rough times lately.

A lot has happened over the past year or so... I guess first off my parents went bankrupt and lost everything due to my mom's negligence with taxes. They are constantly being sued by law firms, the IRS basically has the right to all their income. My mom didn't tell anyone what was going on, my dad found out when the bank owner called him directly and I found out when she started stealing money from me. They lost their house and a lot of their possessions, including mine, their business, pretty much anything of value. Today my mom hasn't apologized and my dad told me just a couple days back he is planning on getting a divorce. She doesn't know. I feel bad for her but also understand completely. They are raising my nephew too, who is his own case. He became a drug addict fairly recently despite my family's life stories about how that leads to nothing but ruin.

My aunt recently developed stage 3 breast cancer, she's halfway through chemo but they are also in the middle of moving. She seems healthy, hopefully that continues.

My grandpa is a major hoarder and control freak and is the only person taking care of my grandmother due to an agreement between them. Yesterday my mom went to a doctor's appointment with him where he was told he needed to have a family meeting and do his advance directive. He doesn't take care of himself at all, has rotting teeth, has pneumonia at this point, is severely OCD, has been in major debt in the past, and just refuses to listen to anyone or communicate about these health issues. His doctor thinks he has colon cancer but he won't get tests done and won't even talk about anything. So we don't know what to do, maybe call Adult Protective Services if it comes to it. In the meantime just step in despite how pissy he is.

Somehow it all hit me when my mom was talking to me last night making all these future plans with my dad and nephew. My sister and brother in law died when I was in high school so my nephew doesn't really have anyone except us, even though he wishes otherwise.

I'm healthy and financially alright through all this. It just kind of sucks. Am I going to have to try to take care of my mom somehow? Or my grandparents? I don't know.
