I mean I'd spend 60 dollars on a remastered Chaos Theory.

Now that MGS is done there's a huge void within the stealth genre. AC is hardly stealth. I hope they bring back Splinter Cell before this gen is over.

Dishonored fills the void in the sense that you can play it all sneaky sneaky.

Ehh. Not really on the same level of stealth gameplay as SC or MGS. I would say Dishonered and Deus Ex both have pretty bad stealth mechanics.

CT is the epitome of the SC series.

-10 or so single player levels. All of which are really good. Some of which are seriously the best in the franchise. The Panama Bank level is by and far the absolute best stealth level in a game. Period.

-4 unique Co-op maps that are lengthy. Levels take upwards of an hour to complete. 2 free co-op levels were later added for free.

-A versus mode with fun and unique mechanics plus a bunch of levels. Spies were a tad OP, but it was still a blast.

Add on top of that the witty quips and dialogue, and the fantastic sound track, and it's easily one of the GOAT games and was worth every penny when it came out.

I would say so. Survive dropped below $20 a month after release. If it ever does come back, it'd probably be in 15-20 years when Konami really doesn't give a fuck and sells it to Kojima.

The pessimist in me expects it would just be a mix of Ubi open world and MGSV.

I disagree. Blacklist triumphs over all SC games in all aspects. Chaos Theory is so overrated at this point. I've played tons of stealth games but honestly, Blacklist takes the cake. For once, Ubisoft managed to balance the stealth aspect of the franchise with newer aspects.

I liked Blacklist but it still feels like there's steps back compared to Chaos Theory. It's so arcadey.

Nothing has really compared to that grounded stealth Chaos Theory offered. None of this super fast climbing and lining up dudes to execute in a single button. Just had to rely on your gadgets and the environment to get through it.

Well yeah, the option is there.

But my way of playing it was "I'm going to knock everyone out without getting seen once."

It's a hell of a stealth game that way.

People seem to forget that you can just run around the entire level in chaos theory and just stab the fuck out of everyone without any repercussions. Chaos theory was great for its time but it's a heavily flawed stealth game that hasn't aged well. Blacklist does everything better than chaos theory in the gameplay department.

The lack of ironside does suck though

like real it is. Blacklist offers more options, that's what it is and what makes it so great. If you want to play it Chaos Theory style, you can do that too, and completely ignore wall-running and mark and execute shooting. And you know what? The maps in Blacklist are actually designed for this method of stealth. Blacklist took the good parts of Conviction, removed the bad parts, restored the good parts of previous games and this resulted in the best splinter cell game to date. A very underrated one as well (given the dismay sales).

Chaos Theory was good for its time and looking back, it's very flawed. AI sucked, gameplay mechanics was limited, a very linear map etc. Now, it's overrated.

I know Chaos Theory is an easy game but I miss when splinter cell was a franchise that cared about all the little details. Stuff like how Sam would hold his gear steady when sneaking up on people. How the sound of an environment mattered. Being able to gather info by interrogating guards and snooping through emails. My favourite levels were the mundane office levels.

The original games had this realism aspect that was pretty unique. Now they're more like Batman meets Jason Bourne.

just wanna chime in that i would love a new SC game, circa CT. Not the stupid black and white bullshit that's basically just an action game.
